Lol. We must have different perspectives of which jocks can carry horses to the line. Candyman is a Def no. Striker is neither here or there.

Back to the topic though- AM is an absolutely great jockey. Always trying. Not his fault that most of his mounts shorten. Personally I think it's more pressure for a jockey to be riding a favorite as all eyes are constantly just on them and the horse.

Strong jocks I think that can carry horses are Zechner and De Melo.

What we seem to lose sight of is that,South African jockeys have competed internationally more successfully than probably any other individual sport!
They have been champions almost everywhere they have competed,so it depends how you define "great",and Marcus is definitely one of the best we have produced!

I would say that MARCUS is absolute GREAT!!!!
When it comes to SA RACING...1 of the absolute best!!! And I can PROOF it right here and now(before some1 says other wise)

So,by all means,surely MARCUS must be the best jewel in SA racing...highest Win %...highest place %...what does that mean for us???? Simply that with him making money comes easier than with other jocks!!!! You can use his rides in many many type of bet types and rest assured he will deliver...even if its just 5/10 shots!!! There's swings,doubles,trebles,ex,trf,exotics...ect ect.
Arguing over who is great or not is foolish...when STATS already implies everything!!!!

Also,you all should rather learn from Marcus,rather than doubt him.He only looks for rides he can win on,hence being selective in his rides.So if you can be half as selective in choosing the proper races to punt,than you will say the same thing I do....any jock...who brings you GOOD CONSISTENT PROFITS...surely is a GREAT JOCK!!!! Professionals in world racing have 3-25% turnovers,whereas the general population want 1000%... No wonder there's only abt 5% who actually make it on racing....the other 95% says it cannot be done(greed stands in their way)!

Please can somebody comment on the way he rode shine up in the finish yesterday . He was running his right palm along the left SIDE of the horses neck . To my eye it seemed that the manner in which he was doing that offered no assistance in the latter part of the race to the horse . Usually I see the riders assisting the horse by pushing the horse out below the horses head along the crest .

This looked strange to me . Any comments would be appreciated . Ps not talking from my pocket .

It was not an enterprising ride at all and I know DC would have been very disappointed as the stable was riding on a double for the day.

After the running of Race 2 (good win Neigh) and when I saw the betting move (saw the owners name/colours) in the last then I knew something was up.

Nothing sinister insinuated BUT look at the colours of the winning horse and see in whose stable most those colours belong to and check who is that stable chief rider.

Bring it on (thorns and bouquets) - it will make for good discussion.

I see what you guys mean about his hand positioning but look at the way he used his whip,I think he was definitely trying to win

Durbs go have a look at AM in a two/three/four way finish and see this whip action and others and draw your own conclusion.

All I can say on this silly topic is, there is nothing more beautiful and thrilling than a stunning looking filly going over the winning line first with Anton in the saddle. Good.... nah the best !

all i can say is i backed Shine up and win or loose Anton is different class and if they dont win he has given them every chance - some okes on this site honestly need to get a good set of glasses because comparing him and fortune in a finish means you absolutely clueless with all due respect

I am still in shock that some think Candyman is able to carry any mount to the line.

No doubt the man is a good jock and all that.no doubt. (I am a fan)

But carry horses to the line? ? His ride style is the direct opposite.
