In the UK a jockey gets paid just over 100 pound a mount..so if he/she manages to get say 10 mounts a day thats good money. We have so many meetings in the summer that the jockeys have their own helicopters that whizz them around the countryside. I suppose most people who have a good profession emigrate for economically reasons.

Cuckoo for the first time in a long time I looked at the stakes..cldnt belive that the winner of a merit rated 78 at vaal gets R38k before deductions (jock and trainer)..its an absolute disgrace and its not worth owning horses really..it means that before you even pay for the stabling fees to recoup the price of an average purchase the horse needs to win 10 races..its a joke!

We are the suckers, oscar.
And while the RA and Phumelela are one and the same, and the policy of quiet diplomacy continues, not much will change.

We should be ok, lads.
We have a Phumelela official as the RA GM and a RA Board endorsed by the Phumelela directors, our Racing Trust is controlled by those Phumelela directors as well, so everything points to happiness !
