Isn't it about time that the rail configuration was carried in the racing publications.I know that the sportingpost has published the rail configurations for Natal for some time, but even that is not always accurate. The rail configuration @ courses like Greyville and Durbanville can have a huge influence on races.@ Durbanville when it is wet and the rail is set wide they invariably come wide out, whilst @ Greyville I notice that a false rail that is set @ only 3 metres can give an even bigger advantage to horses that are drawn low.Surely the course managers know @ the time of publication of the form guides as to where they are going to have the rail set for the next meeting. We continually bitch about the lack of information, but this is surely one of the most important bits of information that is easily obtained and yet little emphasis is put on it.Personally I believe we should race without false rails like the rest of the world, but seeing as we do have them should we as the punters not at least know where they are going to be prior to the day of the meeting.
