7.15 Topper Thornton At Down Royal. His last 3 runs here have been 2 wins and a 2nd,in this race last year off a mark of 106, same mark he runs off today, which is 16lbs lower than his chase mark. His last course run was a win in a 3m handicap chase here in February off 116. Could be well in and 16/1 looks generous.ew bet

Dave I think it's the actuall Silver Bell that's the oldest sporting trophy and not the race

Lanark racecourse is still basically a (derelict) racecourse, i.e. it hasn't been built on. There was talk of it reopening some years ago, but sadly nothing ever came of it.

R5 Thirsk My Name Is Rio E/W. Has run in this for the last two years and has been sunk by a low draw both times. Is well drawn today, however, and will appreciate the soft ground. Can make the first four at least at 10/1 or bigger.

Can just about remember it, Bob - closed in the late 70s I think. The BBC used to go there once a year to cover the Silver Bell meeting.
