"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Saturday Workings...
17 years 1 week ago
Afternoon,
This afternoon completed then, and went as follows....
The 1st runner we wanted 2.5, and with being around 2.62 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond we had a lay at 2.5 max. There was then a non runner and 11.9% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.32 to make the full lay back out. The price was there and so we were back on with a full lay. The lay had to work hard, but got the win, so the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it...
The 2nd runner we wanted 3.2, and with getting that and slightly shorter on arrival, we had a lay at 3.2 max. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.5 and beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade was beaten and so a good result......
Th 3rd runner we wanted 2.5,and with being a very well supported 1.77 on arrival, we had a lay at 1.77. The lay went and won and so the gamble landed, and the way it goes......
The 4th runner we wanted 2.8, but a non runner and 6.4% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.59 (2.6 nearest exchange price). The price dropped near our lay price, but never actually hit at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner was beaten, so a case of 'one that got away in hindsight'.......
The 5th runner we wanted 2.2, and with being around 2.92 on arrival, and then a withdrawal and 8% reduction, we now wanted a lay price of 2.1. The price was still too high, but then came tumbling down to us and beyond under very good support, so we had a lay at 2.1 max. The lay went and won a battle, so the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.....
The 6th runner we wanted 2.7,and with being a very well supported 2.12 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.12. The lay went and won, so yet another favourite goes in and the way it goes. Traders did get their trade back prices in running, so got away with it....
The 7th runner we wanted 3.2, and with being around 2.7 on arrival, we had a lay at around 2.7. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.5, so a chance of a 'free' lay for traders and builders. The lay/trade went and won very easily, so yet another favourite wins and the way it goes. Glad of the 'free' lay this time though....
The 8th runner we wanted 2.0, and with drifting to around 2.5 on arrival and not coming back down to us, race to race players had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten, so the drift beat race to racers to the punch. Grr! Early traders happy though........
The 9th runner was withdrawan, so on to the next runner....
The 10th runner we wanted 3.0, and with being around 2.7 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.7. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.3 and beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade was beaten and so a good result........
The 11th runner was withdrawan, so on to the next runner.....
The 12th runner we wanted 3.2, and with being around 3.15 and shorter on arrival, we had a lay at 3.15 max. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.5 and beyond, so a chance yet again for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade looked in trouble a couple of times, but dug deep to get the win (surprise surprise) and so the way it goes. Glad of the 'free' lay now though.....
The 13th runner we wanted 2.7, but a non runner and 10.3% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.52. The price was around 2.38 on arrival and shortening, so we had a lay at 2.38 max. The lay went and won, so another one goes in and the way it goes. Traders again got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it....
The 14th runner we wanted 2.6, and with being a very well supported 1.72 on arrival, we had a lay at 1.72. The lay went and won, so another goes in and the way it goes....
The 15th and final runner we wanted 3.2, but a non runner and 28.7% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.57 (2.58 nearest exchange price). The price was bang on that on arrival, so we had a lay at 2.58. The race is over 40 minutes away and so with all strategy play completed and just a bit of trading left, I'm leaving it there and off to get drunk!
WELL BATTLED........................(2 from the first 3 (66.66%) went and won - 5 from the first 7 (71.5%) went and won - and 8 from the 12 (75%) played (2Nr's)and so nigh on impossible to make any money, and we had to take a big hit on the chi today!)
'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them)............They started their 1st strategy/target on the 1st runner, and after a dour battle, they went to their 5th lay (the 6th runner) were they had to end the session conceding 3.5 targets.............They then started their 2nd strategy/target on (the 7th runner), and after yet another battle, they ended up conceding 4 targets, and so the worst session of the year, and probably the last 5 years as they concede 7.5 targets...
'Bank builders' strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 1st runner) at 2.5 max, but a poor result see them go behind early.........They then had a 'free' lay (the 2nd runner) that bought a tiny profit...........Then came their 2nd lay (the 3rd runner) at 1.77, but another poor result see them give a bit more away..........They then had their 3rd lay (the 5th runner) at 2.1, but another poor result see them go further behind...........Then came their 4th lay (the 6th runner) at 2.12, and yet another poor result see 4 runner builders concede 4 targets....
5 runner builders played on and had a 'free' lay (the 7th runner) which only bought relief...........They then had another 'free' lay (the 10th runner) that bought a tiny profit............Then yet another 'free' lay (the 12th runner) that only bought relief................Then came their 5th lay (the 13th runner) at 2.38, but a poor result see them lose 4 targets too....

Traders had to concede a little on the 3rd runner at 1.77, and the 12th runner at 1.72, and although all others see them win a bit, or break level, they still had to concede a little on the session...
So yet again we were faced with a barrage of winners, and the 5 from 7 early just knocked us down and made us take a count! So tough when they're flying in like that, and mix that with others being very well supported and plenty of drifters too, then it's the toughest job in the world to be a bookmaker!!! Anyhow, we know these periods come and go, so we'll just ride them out the best we can and await the next run of nice profits. Builders had to concede te maximum 4 targets, so total annoyance for them, and although they know it happens, it's still not nice and so they need a very good run now. Rollers had a dour battle to open the session, and it turned out to be the worst session for a very very very long time. I'm off to try and cool down a bit and find a little bloke to punch! all jokes aside, this game drives me barmy at times. Roll on the next long run of profits now please...
