Sean Tarry slams the July Panel

SA Champion trainer, Sean Tarry, lambasted the Durban July panel as making “hometown decisions” after his filly, Trophy Wife, failed to make the final field for the big race on July 2, writes Dave Mollett.
“They should rename Gold Circle, Gold Circus – their decison to omit a horse with her group form is bad for racing,” said Tarry

so if the connections of rabada decide to scratch him from the july will they do it before 8.15 am on Friday when the reserves are automatically scratched or wait till later so no reserve becomes a runner..the owner of rabada and trophy wife are big mates so lets wait and see but I remind you of the only time ipi tombi ever got beat in south Africa was in the sa fillies classic when mdk scratched one of his runners before the cut off time of 8.15 of the day of the race and paddy kruyers filly kournikova the first reserve was given a run,,result kournikova first and ipi tombi second :P

I love this guy, Pirates. Does anyone have a better sense of irony in the game?

The Conglomorate and Saratoga are close together, but I agree it is inconceivable that either get in before Trophy Wife. It would be interesting to hear the merits on how Trophy Wife doesn't get in before them.

Every year there is going to be someone that is not happy but horses showing form at Greyville must be considered. I do not believe in favouring local trainers but at least show some formline at Greyville in the build-up if your horse in not rated 105 plus.

The maybe yes/no on both Rabada & Legal Eagle has and will cause problems with this field. Trainers & owners have every right to nominate & scratch horses but i think for the July they should reconsider these conditions. Please don't get me wrong, I think the whole selection & qualifying criteria as well as the weights should be re-looked however if this race is not your horses main aim and you nominate and then scratch for no apparent reason then there should be a penalty.

Trophy Wife had a number of leading up "prep" runs, way below its rating ..........did the apparent weaker form come back to bite ,perhaps.

Exactly what i am talking about Rob....would she have finished in front of some of the lower rated horses in the Daily News or Greyville 1900 that have made it into the race? I think not.

I am sure I know that....

I am talking collateral form lines, times and performance in the last three runs
