Ladbrokes dump South African racing?

I can't find any official announcement but yesterday a friend went into Ladbrokes to place a bet at Fairview and was told that they are no longer covering racing from South Africa. No cards on the wall and no TV coverage either. This is supposed to have happened at the beginning of June. Anyone have an inside story on this?

Lack of interest i think and the cost for little return was also a reason

It's not just Ladbrokes, but all UK betting shops. I don't know for certain, but I think it could be a rights issue.

Most firms are still covering it online, Bob, but I don't think it is being shown in the shops any more - at least not in Ladbrokes, William Hill, Betfred or Coral.

Just looked at the Ladbrokes site and you're right, Bob, it's gone! William Hill, Coral, Paddy Power, Boylesports, Betfred, Bet365 and Stan James are still covering it online.

Just been told by a friend who manages a WHill shop that she had a memo to remove all papers from shops

its simple theres more money being punted on the cartoons your bombarded with them I noticed there taking racing from Bangalore india just about sums it up

You've got me googling Bangalore horseracing. On the Bangalore Turf Club website I can view both live and recorded racing at no subscription. All todays racing has already been uploaded.

Talking of Paddy Power
They are still 25/1 River Run in the last at Turfontein.
This horse has been drawn 12/14,10/14,12/12 and 14/16 in its last 4 runs.
Today it cracks a decent draw in 3 and has gone down 7kg from 4 runs back.
Previous form gives it a ew squeak.
