and that what cost him the race....

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
Nil.

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
ROYAL ZULU WARRIOR (AUS) : Fatigued.
BUCK SHOT : Nothing obvious detected.

I'm sorry ,but I maintain that our regulators are just not qualified ..................in the same race they ask for a vet examination due to the poor run of Buck Shot...............who was so far out at the weights,10,5 lgths was not a bad run at all (actually ran at least 6 lgths BETTER than its rating)............and yet no action taken when horses suddenly improve 15Kg to win .............................................clueless!!!!!!

Rob you took the words out of my mouth !!! Buck shot ran to above his rating yet they deemed his run poor and asked for a vet check . It does not surprise me though !!!

Agree with tigershark , the officials if not taking action will set a precedent excusing riders from riding to the finish .

Tigershark wrote: Dean, i tend to agree with Naresh but there are specific rules, i.e. ride the horse to the line. I didn't punt the horse but the the guys who did must be pissed and there should have been an enquiry announced immediately but not even mentioned in the Stipes report is a shocker.

The Stipes making no mention of this is what is worrying and every jockey's lawyer should make a copy of the race as an example of no action taken when putting your hands down on a ride. Pierre should have his fine reversed.....

I am not even going to comment on the kilo over...... this shit is killing the poor punters. The horse should have been declared a non-runner when the jockey weighed in.

Exactly my sentiments TS

Solo, its one race but it explains so much more .......
We have a handicap system that operates on the "performance" of the runners.
I had correspondence with the NHA and was amazed to be told that they felt that regulating consistency and merit of runs was nearly inpossible ..........well if they dont understand handicapping in its basic form , how on earth can they pretend to be maintaining the integrity of a system which is so open to manipulation!
