Suyoof can start now!
The further they go the better Abashiri will become and he already klups em without breaking a sweat!!
If anything a new unknown 3 year old may give him a run. A real out and out stayer, but i doubt it.
I stand to be corrected, but Pierre Jourdaan and even his siblings have all proved to be most effective around 1400-1600 and 1800 at most. The 2450 was too far. Where as irish flame from 10 furlong onwards was at his peak
Abashiri on the other hand looks as though 2450 will be his game!! And thats what scares me!

Bob, in the morning you have to put a video of Nyquist winning the Florida Derby. It made Mohaymen look ordinary who only finished 4th after racing wide throughout. Nyquist the 2yo juvenille champion of 2015 still undefeated.

The giant striding bay gelding Abashiri ran into the hearts of the nation
today as he strolled home in the R2 million Gr 1 SA Classic over 1800m
under Karl Zechner in front of a big and enthusiastic Turffontein crowd.
The Mike Azzie-trained son of Go Deputy will thus have a shot at becoming
the third horse in history to land the coveted SA Triple Crown. The third
and final leg of the series is the Gr 1 SA Derby over 2450m on Champions
Day, April 30. On that day thousands will likely be cramming in to
Turffontein to witness Abashiri becoming a new member of South Africa's
elite band of equine heroes . However, the most adrenalin charged pair on
course on Champions day will almost certainly be Abashiri's deserving
owners Adriaan and Rika van Vuuren. The couple have poured millions of
rands into the game in pursuit of such a dream.

.....bout time The Azzman got a really good sort.....and the owners are as deserving too....not
easy to pour that type of Tom into the game and get squat.....and now the R400k spent on this chap is a bargain.....but when Mike relayed what had happened to this horse having an accident leading up to this race and missing 8 days of work left me cold.....sometimes better not to know everything ....as it would have put me off him totally....now this horse is special as he overcame a setback and still galloped the opposition into the ground.....great training feat by Mike and using a pacemaker to stretch the field out and ensure Abashiri did not find traffic problems...is testament to putting a good plan in place.....
There is no reason why this horse cant get the next trip his ped is that of a true stayer and barring nothing goes wrong.... should be the next triple crown bearer....
