Guys, what is the difference between a MR 90 Divided Handicap and a MR 90 Handicap?

Thanks.

I think it is when the spread of the MR(top to bottom) extends over(or DIVIDED over) 2 classes!

(not that I am sure the classes in SA are official)

My interpretation would be 30 nominees so they split the field into 2 races ?

I think its where the merit ratings of a race is divided into lots then allocated a weight for eg..

MR = 100 to 105 (60kgs)
MR = 95 to 99 (58kgs)
MR - 90 to 94 (56kgs)

and so on...

But this was a conditions race, not a divided handicap ........I am sure MR are used conventionally in a divided handicap.....................where is Pirates this is his area of expertise! :huh:

Divided Handicap will be divided into 2 or 3 handicaps after nominations with the top handicap being 90 and the next being half way thru, maybe 74 which is 8kg below 90 and if divided again 58 and below.
90 Handicap is one race from 90 down.
Hope that answers the Question

sorry for the above there is no difference..what happens is the program will have 2 races set aside hence divided over a particular distance ..trainers nominate there horses and its the sole discression of the handicapper where and how he splits the 2 sets of nominations ...
