For all those who live in and around Jhb, and who are racing enthusiasts, it is well worth your while taking a few hours to visit the sales venue for the NYS this week.
The yearlings are all there to be seen, the vendors are all very happy to show you around, and we are an hospitable bunch. You don't necessarily need to intend to be a buyer this year- I attended local sales in CT for quite a few years before I was in a position to buy my first horse.
The auction itself is fun to watch, especially if you have been through the catalogue and looked at some of the horses.
Viewing is open all day.
The sale is over 3 sessions starting at 3pm on Wed, Thurs and Friday.
The racing museum at the sales venue is also worth a look.
There is a tote and racing is broadcast in the pub and restaurant for the punters.

Will this be broadcast on Telly track? If not, is there a link where there I can stream live feed from?

Live stream on the tba.co.za website.
The first day was an up and down affair. Clearance rate for the first 150 lots 73%. Median R200k (same as last year); average R306k (up 18%). top price so far R2.5m.
Top end fairly strong but no great fireworks; middle market opportunities for bargains.
Attendance was strong for the first couple of hours, then thinned out noticeably later on.

I see Piera was bought back by the vendor. I thought it was sold for R70k. Mmmm, so Mac didnt "buy" one for less than R100k.
