Jeepers..... The judge looks like he needs a bed.... Even needs his arms to keep his head up and fingers to keep his eyes open......

Krejcir: 25 years for count 1, 15 years for count 2, 15 years for count 3. 10 years of each count 2 and 3 will run concurrently with count 1.

it almost seems that the judge wanted to leave himself open for appeal - consider the Pistorius case where everything was done to give Pistorius no grounds for appeal.

Sounds like the judge is afraid...can you blame him though?

Re: Krejcir
9 years 3 months agoyes but the court covered all bases. I think by not allowing experts to testify in mitigation really was wrong. And not allowing the new counsel to represent also was wrong. To me the Judge behaved like a Megalomaniac and that does not serve justice. I think Krejcir is being hammered because there are so many other crimes he's gotten away with. I don't think any harm would have come from postponing for a day or two to give him the opportunity to present his witnesses. The sentence may well have been the same but at least he would have had no grounds to appeal. He stated he did not have his medical file but the Judge ignored that.rob faux wrote:mr hawaii wrote: it almost seems that the judge wanted to leave himself open for appeal - consider the Pistorius case where everything was done to give Pistorius no grounds for appeal.

On Tuesday, Krejcir explained to the court that his warders at the prison had insisted he obtain an order from the court before he could phone his lawyer, but Judge Lamont, as he did the day before, was unwilling to grant the order.
Alexander confirmed to The Star that Krejcir had been unable to contact him, and explained he had been able to consult with the Czech fugitive on only one occasion. He added that during that visit, their entire meeting was monitored by prison officials, and he was “chased away” after about 90 minutes.

that was just blatant and unconstitutional
Very strange that a senior Judge would do something so reckless?

If ever the Czech Fugitve sees the inside of a cell ( as in, serving his sentence ) I would like to hear him name the very high up people who have helped him during his stay in SA ( aka Gangster's Paradise )…I am sure he wasn't granted permission to stay here by some lowly Home Affairs clerk...

I can understand his frustration at the ploys of the accussed but Justice must at least "seem" to be blind. I would fear spending a year in jail if I had to appear before him on minor traffic violation. Oscar can thank his stars that this guy was based in JHB ...
