Bluntly, the more that run the more the breeders stats will be diluted and the less they can charge for their over priced stock...

Western Cape racing should be forced to go it alone. Maybe that would make them make an effort..............................and if they survive ,they survive............and if they don't,tough!
Their racing has been subsidized for so long, nobody (except Hassan Adams) seems to give a toss!

Would be interesting to see stats on runs/runner and % wins/places per registered horse for each trainer ?

i am a believer that horses that do not run often cause the form-book to be unreliable. Look at a horse like Money Surger - 7 runs since November - consistent. Also in my experience young horses come on lengths from run to run but if they are only running every two to four months then what good does that do. Phum should put a sliding scale on stakes. If the field is under-subscribed then that percentage under should be transferred to races that are fully subscribed.

Actually could be easy to do. As long as the money went to a similar type of race might make a difference.

Maidens would be full so more stakes there.
