The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry, which commenced on 7 August 2015, was concluded on 9 December 2015.

Mr Woodruff was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that a urine specimen taken from the horse SUMMIT, after it participated in and won the 3rd race at Turffontein Racecourse on 7 February 2015, disclosed, upon analysis, the presence of Flumethasone, a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa.

Mr Woodruff pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty.

The Board considered all the relevant facts before it, including Mr Woodruff’s submissions in mitigation and imposed a penalty of a fine of R30 000,00.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 SUMMIT is disqualified from the race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.

An offence on the 7/2/15 was concluded on the 9/12/15..........................isn't that an extremely long time for resolution?
