KZN PROGRAMME CHANGE
9 years 6 months ago
The installation of Shelton Drainage on the inside track at Scottsville has taken longer than initially expected and as a consequence only the straight course will be available for the race meetings of 6 December and 13 December 2015. This has necessitated re-arranging the race programme for the first half of December and the KZN Summer Challenge finals over 1600m and 2000m will now take place on the Greyville turf track on Friday night 4 December. The 1200m final will remain as the headliner for the race meeting at Scottsville on 6 December when racing returns to the Capital following the track’s spring treatment.
“The inside track at Scottsville has a history of not draining well and the new Shelton Drainage system, which extends from the 800m to the finish, will be of great benefit in alleviating the problem” said Gold Circle’s Racing Executive Graeme Hawkins. “It’s an expensive exercise but over the years the Shelton Drainage system has proved its worth.”
Racegoers can also look forward to a brand new infield screen at Scottsville when the action returns on 6 December. “Following the success of the big screens at Greyville, we commissioned a new permanent big screen for Scottsville which will no doubt greatly enhance the racing experience for all our fans at this unique horse racing / casino venue,” added Hawkins.
