Not confirmed , but insider at TT has told me that Tellytrack have decided that the NHRA's fine dished out for him swearing the other week was too lenient and decided to ban him from Tellytrack for a month or so ?

Their loss if true, love him or hate him his interviews are about the only thing worth watching on TT

Said with no intent, whilst in coversation about a race and gets a ban...

Maybe they should open their eyes and realise the paying presenters to present races, and all they do is constantly talk about bottles of wine and talk aboslute shit that has F@#k all to do with racing!

I assume that they received a complaint from members of the public, possibly people who have an axe to grind, which is usually the case thus the banning. Apparently he is box office so they are doing themselves no favours by banning him. All that they should do is to ask him to apologise and all cane move on. Worse mis doings both on off the tracks for his outburst to be taken so far

Deserves a ban imo, I agree the stipes where far too lenient and the ban should be made public knowledge

The Nhra had already dealt with the matter and fined him R5000

If he rides 5 winners on Summer Cup day , there will be some unhappy owners who don't get to see their jockey interviewed

I agree with the fine. As much as it doesn't bother me at all, if everyone started effing and blinding on Telly track it would be unprofessional and not in the interest of the sport. The occasional overexcited thing will inevitably come out and there should be ways of dealing with it. A ban on top of the fine isn't useful in this instance . A second or 3rd offense might warrant stricter action. Andrew has always been down to earth , straight talking and a bit cheeky in his interviews, and far more entertaining than most. He can't be allowed to go over the line but getting carried away with bans at this stage is overkill.

Movies with a L rating are 16 age restriction. TT is an 18 rated channel....some sensitive souls out there

I have said this before - I personally swear permanently so I don't want to be a hypocrite but Fortune knew on that day that many children and new punters were oncourse as it was a Charity Day. The interviews on big days are often heard via the PA and all the TV's would have carried it also. Teletrack may have an 18 age restriction but that is for Gambling content NOT LANGUAGE. It would be a different story if he was caught swearing while he was involved in riding a race as that would be a private conversation. If you allow this to go unpunished(I think the amount of the fine is way too much considering the low fines people get for medication offenses) you run the risk of jockeys, trainers and owners turning interviews into mess. Also you have to consider that this was not said in the heat of the moment but rather after he had time to construct an answer. I personally did not get offended but I do see the bigger picture. I have often thought that the NHRA used the "disrepute" rule as a bullying tactic but in this case they did not and acted to protect Racing's frail image. People will say that the stipes are "gunning" for Fortune but anybody that knows his history with Racing Officials will tell you that Fortune has been given more chances than any other rider. It's no big deal and hyping it into something it is not will not help. I'm sure, knowing Fortune, he'll find a way to bring humor into this in a cheeky manner that will have the stipes smiling behind closed doors.

I will add that I have caught myself swearing profusely after a horse i owned won a race but in the aftermath I have composed myself when I had to be interviewed by teletrack because I knew that convention and the rules of the Sport dictate that I act in an acceptable manner when interviewed.

It is amazing how we have little minds and you have heard the comment after he rode Schillachi on Tuesday what a scream. You go boy. My wife was called a BUSHY by a trainers wife and all she got was a R20,000.00 by the NHRA in which I am happy with but I personally feel that in this day and age of 21 years into democracy and the trainers wife being a colour holder she should have been warned off for life. Waiting on the transcript and then I will post the name.
