Bit harsh. I agree the catalogue is not overly inspiring at first glance but isn't the point of the sale a chance to buy a racehorse based on more than just a page?
Yearling sales are all about proven pedigree matching a good looking specimen , these sales give horseman a chance to pick runners, and breeders a chance to get their stock on the track to enable the "unproven" pedigrees a chance. There are a bunch of sires I can think of that we're far from the flavour of the year as far as support went , but turned out to be outstanding when the runners hit the track. Just saying, if you are an owner or trainer with any aspiration, these sales are must, even if you don't get wood looking at the catalogue.

.....in past years this sale was a must as it produced horses like Umgazi, Imbongi, Pierre Jourdan and Igugu horses that were not only aimed at a single restricted high stakes race but above average racing careers.....now with a double race higher stakes pay day .....people look to by a high priced raffle ticket to get a crack at one of these pay days and not necessary a specimen to have a top racing career like the for mentioned performers..... :S
