R5 Sumbal. Might well have beaten New Bay in the Prix Du Jockey Club, but couldn't get a clear run all the way up the straight. Disappointed when reappearing at Deauville last month, but the extended mile and a half on very soft ground was almost certainly too far. Finished in front of today's favourite, Karaktar, in the Jockey Club despite all the trouble he met in running and, if he is back to his best today, will take all the beating here. 4/1 is a huge price.
