This type of issue certainly gets emotive, and there have been more attacks and sideswipes against other forumites than on Striker.......... :woohoo:
So ,without the emotion,no matter how much you respect Striker or sympathise with him (and I reiterate,I am a fan) it has to be understood, that whatever leniency he gains, sets a precedent for not riding a horse out,for every other jock in the country, for the foreseeable future - that is the simple fact!
(Put into perspesctive ,Oscar was found guilty of nothing else but a mistake  .................and is in jail!............the point being that mistakes are different to accidents!)

This is what i thought. In the past it always has been 6 months if it was first place and less for a minor place.i remember andrew fortune getting one month for a 4th place. But then i read in Robert B post that it is 3 months so therefore would assume that it has been changed from 6 to 3.

So a jockey could get 6 months ban for not winning on a horse yet Pistorious initially got 10 months for.......... wow

Appie got a month for losing 2nd the other day , striker will get a ban( had warnings lately) but 6 months never ( hope not anyway )
As ringer said 3 months with half of it suspended is the norm

Re: That has to be a 3 month ban
9 years 9 months agodefinitely the best post so far on this issue...we have approx. 4000 races a year multiply by an average of 10 runners per race and out of 40 000 rides our blind stipes cannot see when a horse is not given the best opportunity to gain the best possible position in a race ...there are a few jockeys out there in fact one in natal is so blatant that are giving horses a miss yet our blind stipes do absolutely nothing about it...Huchergh wrote: I think the most fascinating thing to come out of all of this is the fact that it has stirred up so much interest from punters because of the fact that a jockey should have won a race that he didn't.They can recognize it because it was so blatant.
What most punters don't even realize is how often they are doing their money before races are even run, either by instruction from trainers who want to reduce ratings or jockeys/trainers giving them an easy so that the horse can be punted next time or the time to follow.
This case is easy to solve,it's just a case of how much time the jock gets.
The real problem the NHA faces is identifying those cases.
That is where the game really is crooked.

Stipes are skint seemingly pirates
Maybe more fines like the local councils with parking tickets the way to go ?
Do you think they are to worried about damaging racings image any more ?
Bad news very rarely makes the papers !!

Personally I think the NHA have a problem with Stipes consistency and work, sometimes the Stipes reports take more than a month before being published.

I would have thought by now Chicken that you would know me a wee bit better.
Your not as easy as it used to be to get a reaction from due to your brain be consumed by your little football competition, but with Colin it's like playing with puppy that hasn't been fed for a week..

Seriously, the only way to give the proper suspension is to be in line with previous cases,be it a experienced jock or apprentice.
The experienced jock should know better and the novice will learn a valuable lesson.
Striker has held he's hands up and apologised,he should get some credit for that, not all jockeys have done the same in the past.
