Just go to show an experienced well thought of sportsman can also mess up. Thought he had the race in the bag but came short.Good riding Manna.

@louisg...agree that it was a mistake (no skulduggery involved) and I feel sad that a jockey of the talent and experience as PS could have made such an error of judgment...

I know nothing of race-riding so it would be ignorant for me to pass any further comment...

didnt see the race, what happened? I heard the commentary and once again Nico the poophole pirate calling winners pre-maturely

Can't blame Niko this time

Striker stopped riding about 100 yards from line and was nabbed on post

Pushed out the result was never in doubt

Striker had actually out ridden the field in the race

Of course everyone makes mistakes,but in jockey terms making a mistake is switching in instead of switching out or vice versa.Not riding the horse out to the line is just show boating.

Sometimes when something is indefensible it's best to just not defend it.

The "mistake" was the complete disregard for NHA rules of race riding!(not dishonest) ............mind you,if the NHA don't take their rules seriously,it is inevitable that it will become infectious!

I doubt you would call it a mistake if the owners in your yard had a bet and striker did the same.

shows no respect for punters so much for striker preaching about helping punters

Personally did money in the race having backed Irish Rebel, no hard feelings for Striker , especially as he's done me some huge favours in the past. I think the worst part of it all is that Striker is such a professional and we just didn't expect that from him !
