Gavelhouse South Africa Announcement

We would like to inform you that Gavelhouse will not be continuing our service in South Africa as of July 1st 2015.

The decision to withdraw our facility is a result of our future plans to introduce new technology and build on a solid platform for the future.

Once Gavelhouse has its new services up and running we hope to grow it to an international level. Your continued support would be much appreciated.

We would like to thank so many clients for their great support over the last six years and have enjoyed building friendships which we are sure will continue in the future.

On behalf of our current and former staff, I personally wish you all the success in the breeding barn and on the track.

Best Regards, Gary Moore.

I went and had a look at this site as I have never heard of it previously. To be fair, I am not an owner so I do not have any interest in buying a horse. What strikes me as an outsider is the ridiculous prices people are asking for horses. There is a Western Winter filly, a poor maiden, it has run unplaced 6 times and the asking price is R250 000. The market would surely not pay more than R20 000 for this and that is only because of her breeding - surely? One Cool Cat, a moderate horse in his place R70 000. Really? It is no wonder that they are closing down, its clearly not viable. If those are indicative of what prices are being asked for, I would be surprised if they have concluded any deals.

......maybe just a victim to too many local sales due to 2 major sales houses bumping heads....want to get value for a raced chuck out then the 3rd option is Mike Holmes bloodstock.....want to sell a pony online.....you can even do it here...Gavelhouse offers nothing new.....unless they come up with something novel......

We have no problem if anyone wants to sell or buy horses via the site, at least you are sure of plenty exposure and no costs involved the parties can just deal direct
