I'm with you - well weighted, nice draw, won this race 2 years ago - needs to win this to have any chance of making the July field

Took doubles onto Futura in the July. 11/1 nice price

If you feel this horse has run above it's ratings in it's last two starts, then Solar Star is the one they all have to beat.

Rob and others, what do you have him running to in the last two starts? - thanks in advance.

I think the the Cape trainers will win this - Helderburg Blue, Jet Explorer, Power King- If Dynamic was drawn well then he would be involved-(for me Solar Star and Jayeed will have to improve to place)

Jayyed I dunno at all wat the hype is really about.but because
U guys are singing like parrots I will take. Ew double for the 1900 onto the july.

Well here's wat I say/see.
DE Kock last run was all wrong, well I think they didn't even try with this horse
At scottsville last run,go and watch the race again.
Complete Graft Race that was. If that was anything to go by.
DE KOCK will win hands 'n heels.
Jet explorer ya still waiting on dreams.not in any for me.
Dynamic is a good one excellent last run took forever to get going.
Distance will be perfect just the draw is crap.this horse has beaten solar star and helderbergblue before. So. Proven no slouch.

Many with chances but DE KOCK to win and Dynamic Flying up for 2nd,
Or possibly both to fight out the finish.
At those prices.win on both, exacta's and swingers boxed

That's my 2c

In form Cape trainer Dean Kannemeyer has a strong hand in the Gr 2 Betting World 1900 at Greyville on Friday night where he runs Vodacom Durban July entries Power King, Solar Star and It Is Written.

He said there had been a lot of horses with upper respiratory problems and others that had bled during the Cape Summer Of Champions Season and he was unable to quite pinpoint why his own string had been performing below par, so he had backed off a lot of them and saved them for the Champions Season. His excellent results since arriving in KZN in March reflect this.

He duly felt that Power King had run below par in the J&B Met when a 4,6 length seventh. However, the Silvano gelding bounced back with a 0,4 length second to Ze Kaiser in the Cape Mile, despite giving the latter 3kg. He then proved he was thriving at Summerveld by winning very well over the too sharp 1400m at Scottsville in his Champions Season pipe opener, beating the subsequent IOS Drill Hall Stakes winner Ice Machine by a comfortable 2,25 lengths at level weights. Power King worked well over 800m on the grass on Monday and Kannemeyer said he had been doing exceptionally well. Officially he is not one of the better weighted horses under the grouped merit rating conditions of the race, but is only 1,5kg out with the two best weighted horses Jet Explorer and Killua Castle. Anthony Delpech wouldn’t have been able to maintain his partnership with Power King, as his guv’nor Mike de Kock has Jayyed engaged, so a former Kannemeyer stable jockey MJ Byleveld is the replacement. They have to overcome a tricky draw of eleven.

Kannemeyer said that he had thought that Solar Star might have needed his first KZN outing over 1600m on the Greyville polytrack, but instead he won "exceptionally well". He followed up by winning the Listed Sledgehammer over 1750m at Scottsville "very well." Kannemeyer said this would be the Kahal gelding's first test but added, "He is on the up and has everything in his favour (good draw), so we will see how good he is." He is also 1,5kg out with the best in but is drawn well in two with Stuart Randolph up.

Kannemeyer said that he had always felt that It Is Written would be "a miler plus". This Dynasty gelding has also benefitted from his stay at Summerveld, for after going a bit off form during the Cape summer he bounced back with a facile 4,25 length win in a MR 94 Handicap over 1400m at Scottsville. This prompted Kannemeyer to supplement him for the Vodacom Durban July.

He is officially 2,5kg worse off than the best weighted horses on Friday night, but is drawn well in five with Warren Kennedy up. He looks to be another one on the up.

Kannemeyer said that Power King, as the proven horse, would probably be his pick if he had to choose one.

Kannemeyer's champion stayer Hot Ticket worked yesterday under Leon Govender, who has just returned from a spell in Kuwait where he rode 21 winners, including two in big races, The Derby and the King's Cup. Hot Ticket took a while to get going in typical stayer fashion, but the yard were happy with him and Kannemeyer said that the initial target of this July entry and strong eLan Property Group Gold Cup candidate would be a defence of his crown in the Gr 2 Track And Ball Derby over 2400m at Greyville on June 21. He runs in a Pinnacle Stakes race over 1600m at Greyville on Sunday and among his opponents will be the ruling July favourite Futura.

Kannemeyer said that Sunday's comfortable Highway Aged Highland Night Cup winner Solid Speed could also be a Gold Cup horse and said that he was a prime example of a horse that had not been ‘right’ during the Cape summer. He was given a three month suspension for bleeding in a race in late November. However, he added that this might have been a "blessing in disguise."

Charles Laird has always viewed Friday night's Betting World 1900 at Greyville as his Horse Chestnut gelding Bold Inspiration's best chance of getting into the Vodacom Durban July and planned a long time ago to have him "spot on" for this race.

He has removed the blinkers as jockey Anton Marcus had found him difficult to restrain last time when finishing a two-length fifth in the Listed Sledgehammer over 1750m at Scottsville, although he said that part of the reason for that was that he was so sound and well at the moment that he had "just wanted to go."

He added that his preparation had gone very well and he believed that he possessed the necessary turn of foot for the tight Greyville track, although he was hoping that a good gallop would be set.

Bold Inspiration's disappointing Sansui Summer Cup run can be ignored as he was asked to do it from the front, which according to Laird is an impossible task for a KZN horse over that 2000m trip having travelled from near the coast to high altitude.

Bold Inspiration has the advantage of pole position on Friday night and Marcus is up.

Laird said that his first-timer by Kahal in the first race, Harvest Queen, was a strong filly who had ability. However, having flipped over in the stalls before her intended debut after waiting for an age, one of the aims of Friday night's outing would be to just get her through the starting stall phase of the race.

His charge Queen Of Thrones ran a bit disappointingly over 1600m on the turf last time, but Laird confirmed she was better on the polytrack, so she should have a chance in the eighth over 1400m especially considering she had worked well this week.

Mike de Kock runs the classy three-year-old Jet Master colt Jayyed in the Betting World 1900 at Greyville on Friday night, while Cape trainer Stan Elley sends out two runners in this race, the perennial borderline Vodacom Durban July horse Punta Arenas and the Gr 3 Winter Derby winner Dynastic Power.

De Kock’s assistant trainer Nathan Kotzen was pleased with Jayyed and believed that this could be “the right race for him.” He said, “He worked well under Anthony Delpech and he is fit, although he never seems to crack a draw. He has a nice turn of foot so Greyville suits him and he’s got to have a chance.”

Jayyed finished a neck second to Harry’s Son in the Gr 1 Premier’s Champion Stakes over 1600m at Greyville as a two-year-old and cracked his maiden in his penultimate start, his first outing after a successful wind operation. Kotzen said that the colt no longer made a breathing noise when working, so the operation appears to have been successful. Jayyed ran on well from last in the KRA Guineas, having been drawn wide. He is a half-brother to Atyeb (Rock Of Gibraltar), who won the Gr 3 Caradoc Gold Cup over 2850m, so he should relish this step up in trip. He has a slightly better draw this time of ten and Delpech replaces Johnny Geroudis.

Kotzen was not bullish about the chances of Lady Delago in the first race, describing her as “a tiny filly who tries her heart out.”

Jockey Ian Sturgeon was complimentary about his 1900 mount Punta Arenas, whom he worked yesterday (Monday) at Summerveld. He said about the tough six-year-old gelding, “He is very well and worked very well. The July is his mission.” Sturgeon has also worked stablemate Dynastic Power recently, but rated Punta Arenas a better horse based on the feel he gave. Punta Arenas finished second in the 1900 last year from pole position draw carrying 58kg. He carries the same weight this year, but is drawn at the opposite extreme, draw 17.

Looking at the betting I had a good old laugh, bookmakers have DOUBLE CLUTCH priced up at 8/1 now

DOUBLE CLUTCH will need a TRIPLE CLUTCH to run a place against some of these, while HARRY"S SON is a top horse, JAYYED ran only a neck to him... So if I understand the betting properly it basically says that DOUBLE CLUTCH will beat HARRY'S SON - I wonder what planet these punters are from...

are u saying double clutch has no chance in this race ? I think it has every chance and each time this horse runs it is often under estimated. Race time we will see which horse is where and why and and. .. personally I won't write this horse off. .
