I've done a stallion profile and analyzed his pedigree.
La Massine is remarkably close to the stallion Good Journey if you compare pedigrees and there is every reason to believe he will shine at stud.
Both Sex Appeal and Numbered Account have strong La Troienne lines and I believe this will play a role in his success in the breeding shed.

The Captain Al broodmare line will no doubt be pointed his way and with CA's doubles of Buckpasser and Busanda, he should be a natural choice.

Abit off Variety Club, but since its got to do with breeding, Beholder, the second favorite in the Breeders Cup, great great grandsire (third generation) is the South African bred legend Hawaai. Interestingly, Hawaai, dam, Ethane, produced another legend William Penn.

Tests being done and all fingers crossed the problem can be resolved. Results should be out by the end of next week. Huge loss if he has big problems. We live in hope. :(

It is not that unusual for very young stallions to be almost sterile and a couple of more years does the trick. But Variety Club is not that young.

PS Who remembers Date With Destiny? George Washington's only foal.

I think you're correct Rolands Song that she won on debut. I think it was her only win but did run in one of the Oaks. I'll have to look up her form. Nice punt for you but I only knew about her subsequently.
