Agree Chris, looks on the upgrade and the turnaround in weights is also offset a bit with the turnaround in draws. Best bet on the card IMO.

It might be that Smanga is forced to take rides for Van Niekerk, similarly to when Marcus had to ride for Jooste.

Much the same a year or two ago when Strydom rode more for starry , you never knew who was the jockey strike

race 1 I thought if arrive at five is anywhere near her best after her long layoff she would toy with this field,,,careless whispers best run was with blinkers on over 1160m and the 1000m of todays race will suit her even better and the blinkers go back on...5 to 2 top 4 with bworld very nice value...race6 I was very impressed with arch rivals first run for the woodruff yard ,would have preferred another furlong but think he could finish close up again and form of last run stood up well on weekend

Some very competitive races.

R1 Five or six have claims and seem quite closely matched on form. Rock Of Belinda could be the tight one but given the price I'd rather side with Fiesta de Espana with Striker up, not with great confidence though and the high draw is something of a concern. Arrive At Five has been off a long time but if ready to go is a serious runner. Strictlycumdancin and Seven Stars are likely to be thereabouts also.

R2 Tiger's Touch won nicely and following the form back through the second that day, it reads quite well. Could be plenty reasons for the jockey arrangements (I'll have a smaller saver on Fire Wheel anyway as if fit and well). Another with plenty possibles but I'll go with TT to follow-up over the longer d and go with Divano (R2 e/w) and Celine for the places.

R3 Global Myth has a very poor draw but I like the form of his last effort coming off a 20 week break. Similar to race 1, at the prices and with Striker up, I'll take him to pip Frikkie. Pepe and The Golden Boy should not be too far away.

R4 Modern Muse, Casual, Night Fall and Eva Tibbs all appear closely matched on the form and all have decent claims. I'll side with ET who will need some luck in running from the draw but found it lto and has won the last two nicely in different styles.

R5 Another that is wide open. Not going to go through them all as apart from Lavender Landscape I would not be shocked by any result. I'm going with Henry Higgins x Guy From Dubai x Leeuloop Jet with a big question/nag against the lady, Will I Do.

R6 Could do the same write up as for R6 though I am sure some will be strong on Diesel Jet. I prefer to go with Greatest Hits e/w with Diesel Jet and Arch Rival in my trifecta.

R7 No easier! Going over further now but Loco de Ganar came from a mile back to go close last time out and I think could have more to come given that was off a 33 week rest. I marginally prefer Legal Tide though well behind LdG lto, he was making decent progress before hitting a wall of horses and eventually had to switch, possibly twice, before seeing daylight. He was also coming off a long rest also (third consecutive), likely to prefer this distance, better drawn, better off with LdG at the weights and Lerena now up. Urgent Fury (tongue tie and Striker up), Nahoon Beach, Stonehenge, Double Bind all have chances but for me Legal Tide x LdG x Urgent Fury

R8 lol I can't remember exactly why and I really can't be bothered going back to check but I ended up very keen on the chances of Jeziro here. To win by a couple from Ultimate Tiger and Woody Glow. Crimson Magic worth R1 e/w but probably not a lot more! lol

Difficult day but might be some tight finishes. My main but still small patent... Eva Tibbs x Greatest Hits x Jezero

Be(s)t of luck to all

Englander it is funny that I expect any day now Lavender Landscape will win from start to finish and I felt today might be his day.

Bud, good luck!! :)

I can't see it today, looks held to me, recent form not the best and the stable seemingly not firing of late. Wouldn't be the first time though I'd thought that and been left scratching my ever growing bald patch! ;)
