what does it matter? the prize money is still paid out and it still attracts buyers to buy

Champs or not , these races gave owners/breeders/ trainers/ jockeys and punters something to get excited about. I think the best horses around will always be primed at the classics rather than these races, as it should be , but isn't the point of these races to increase the opportunity of enjoying success . I think so far they have been pretty good at doing so.
At any rate. A few horses off these sales will have paid back their buyers a lot more than they ever would have before.
