Judge in Dewani case biased against the State?

I know it sounds bad but is the judge right in striking witness's for the state off and not allowing them to give their evidence? Should they not be heard first and then the evidence be taken for what they perceive it is? Seems to me that it is not right but maybe some more learned of the posters could let us know please.

Generally in law, evidence that is not probative (doesn't tend to prove the proposition for which it is proffered) is inadmissible and the rules of evidence permit it to be excluded from a proceeding or stricken from the record "if objected to by opposing counsel"
