In spite of no soccer matches or tournaments to run!...............interesting!!!!!!!! ......the same principal that makes the open bet scandalous  .......................lol

(no provision for stakes or running of matches and no tax on sports bets,so daylight robbery)

Proof that it is not shortage of gamblers or money that is causing the local racing problem(gambling is one of the industries that traditionally suffers least during recession)
We just do not seem able to convince gamblers that racing is a good choice!

What happened with the case the bookies lodged against P claiming soccer was outside their (P) gambling licence?

Lets not be blinded by the percentages.

If it is a multi-leg pool the returns are nearly always worth while to the holder of a winning ticket.

There are a lot of overheads that needs to be covered and a lot of the money is used to subsidise racing which we all enjoy.

What do you think the take out (tax) is on a bottle of whisky or brandy, cigarettes or a litre of petrol and from which you will not see a cent returned your way.

Profit margins of companies are often more than 100% so we should stop whining. Playing is a choice and with games of skill the truly skilled should be showing a profit for the enjoyment of being involved. For the rest, if you lose what does the take out matter.

Very Strange post LSU...........you are clearly a businessman ,not a gambler.
Gamblers depend on %'s in the long run!
I understand your point about "worthwhile" as I have posted the same about horseracing................the excitement of a big dividend completely disguises any lack of true value(if you catch a R250,000 P6,you seldom focus on how much more it could have/should have paid.)
That does not mean deductions should be robbery(even charitable competition pools have legislated maximum "expense" deductions)
It will be interesting if take-out becomes an issue if/when the litigation, suggesting "P" is operating soccer bets illegally,is decided.

The take out in casino gambling machines range from 5% to 13% and they have huge infrastructures.
