Had a few messages saying sporting post bad for racing , turning as negative as ABC etc
I disagree the exact same is happening to them as has happened to us over the last 8 years. The message senders only complain about the bad news but never applaud the good news articles

Concerned people need a platform to be heard and Sporting Post and ABC serves this purpose well.
If the negatives are addressed it would show true commitment from the operator or bookmaker and will be positive for racing over the longer term.
The fact that nothing gets done about specific concerns raised over time will always be a breeding ground for a justified attack.
I would be more concerned when the voices of dissent goes quiet, as the end will be much nearer then. Complaints are actually a window of opportunity if correctly addressed.

Absolutely, your comments about the meaning of your compliments or criticism doesn't confuse me.
However, what does confuse me is the comment from your racing mate made about ''big mouths" who aren't members and cannot be disciplined ?
So are you excluding the opinion of the average racegoer/enthusiast ? Many racegoers and new blood' have a strong opinion that the JC and now the NHA remain aloof.
Are you saying that they are out of order by criticizing the JC from not been media friendly.
A simple example of this was when a JC official was interviewed on TV. (+- 2009) He went to great pains to reassure the racing public that their doors are always open for questions/ suggestions.
Now, that is simply not good enough. The JC and /NHA need to actively volunteer to educate and inform the racing public as to how they operate, select certain topical guideline /rules and introduce themselves viz. let us know who they are ( simple profile /short interviews)
The Jockey Club, through there failure to use TV to show that they are receptive to general input and debate, have created, over time, a cloud of mistrust.
The self-image the JC and/or NHA think that they portray is world's apart from that of what the racing public have of them.
JC mentality has always been...Do you expect us to be accountable and respond to all and sundry ?
Now, look how their antiquated attitude has damaged racing in the TV lounges at home.
Happy debating

William ( easier than STS
)
I hope that I did not misunderstand what my mate said. My understanding is that if you are not a member of the Jockey club ie. an owner, trainer, jockey etc then you cannot be disciplined? So someone like myself just a punter will not fall under their rules.
I say upfront I am not 100% sure that I am correct in my explanation.

Over the Air,you are absolutely right..............the NHA has no power over anybody who is not a member(who therefore have more say than members,as I explained).
However,as the NHA seem unsure of their own rules they probably can't comment, but I think they can prohibit ANY person from any racing premises ,including racecourses

Rob if that is the worst that they can do to me, I wont lose much sleep pal! After spending the majority of my Wednesday and Saturday afternoons on a racetrack for 20 years plus, I have not set foot on a race track since 1995.
