I listen to what Clanners say which on may oints is my own thoughts.
In the past I have raised points with Racing Post,Phumelela,NHRA etc etc and in some cases received acknowledgement and some not even a reply.
I have tried to be constructive as I don't see much point in being critical without offering some kind of solution.
Looking at the current status I foresee serious problems in Racing.
People have got less didposable income and there is huge competition for it.
In gambling alone there is Online,Casino,Lotto and other attractions, all chasing the smaller diminishing amount available.
I look at Cricket Test Grounds,Rugby and Football Stadiums and see diminishing attendances. My last contract before retiring was at Soccer City Stadium for the WC.It costs R 1250 000.00 just to switch the lights on and provide basic services for an event !Think twice before you book it out for a wedding!
In the construction industry I have moved around a bit and what I find in different places that you easily pick up a Spur,Pick n Pay,KFC,Edgars or Spar.
Try finding a Tab outlet,it becomes a mystery tour because one of the main problems is noone knows what Tab is and they are usually parked in a side stree or on the 1st floor somewhere.
The game itself needs a bit of ruthless sorting out.Jockeys riding so that the horse has no chance, saving the horse for another day.
Odd on favourites get beat but here they finish 4th or way down the field.
Having had my moan I agree that we keep plugging on hoping things will improve, but have no illusions Rcaing is noy going to improve in a rush.

If I was an executive at "P" my great concern would be Over The Air's statement ..."I don't punt with the tote anymore"
I would call for a project measuring and recording all telebet accounts and Tab-online accounts with dramatic negative change ...................contact them and win them back....................and that's just for starters...................I doubt that arrogant bunch care less though!

You are 100 percent correct I only punt with the on line Bookmakers who make it a pleasant experience not the tote where I have to repeat all bets and then hope they read it back correctly.

I have to commend Bob for keeping these contentious issues alive. Sadly it seems that the majority of role players do not want to be seen to be rocking the boat.

With reference to the 3 main items being heard by the Gambling Board i would like to say the following. This was obviously discussed at board level so all directors are equally to blame for the mess that has followed. The Tellybetting Centre we won't discuss as every major company uses call centres these days to chase up business.
With regard to the amendment to own the tote but not have to hold a meeting,i would like some input from the directors as to what were they thinking when they made this decision.Dont forget when they sold the racecourses the money went as dividends which could have been used to make Turffontein the best racecourse in the country,so please give us the reason to delete this item.As far as the tellytrack increases are concerned they tried to get increases from the bookmakers(not for racing, but for dividends) but to no avail. The bookmakers have it in writing which says "reasonable cost" which is in the agreements with Gauteng Gaming Board and The Eastern cape Gaming Board.Once they tried to have that deleted everyone should have known what was up.If they were only going to charge reasonable charges why try and remove the clause, the only inference was that they knew they were going to charge fees, that were unreasonable.
Any fees decided must take into account the losses suffered whilst the feed was disrupted.Everyone has lost due to their decision,as the licence conditions have been violated.
If the settlement is say 10% then the bookies and the provincial governments should have a claim against Phumelela to compensate for the loss of revenue to both bookmakers and govt. This stems from Phumelela trying to impose an approved fee.We will wait to hear from the directors and RA Directors
