ST Leger festival
10 years 9 months ago
Starts on Thursday
Here is the photo finish from 1850
Took the judge 3 weeks to call the result as they waited on the artist
Was a dead heat between Voltiguer and Russborough

Those two jockeys were definitely not "on-your-Todd"

Bob very interesting, but what really strikes me is how the horses action has changed over the years. :silly:
Dave it must have been a sight to behold.

The beast was on the bit most of the race and looked majestic, it then went on to the Arc and was beaten a short head.
Now the jury was out on the reason for defeat, was it a race too much as it was close to the St Leger ?
Did piggott time his run too late? Or did it hit a bad patch and stumble and became unbalanced just before the line? ( I will stick to the later)
Cheers

Bob was thinking of taking an ATC or Yankee
Scotland to win St Leger, Scotland to win the referendum Australia to win the Rugby and to win in Ireland

In this week’s International Feature we move to South Yorkshire, England, for the annual ST LEGER festival to be held at Doncaster Racecourse from Wednesday 10 September to Saturday 13 September. There is just one Group 1 race at the carnival, the Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes to be run over 2937m on Saturday but there are six supporting Group 2 races, a Group 3 and two Listed races during the four day showdown. This preview of the St Leger festival is brought to you by South Africa’s leading betting operator, HOLLYWOODBETS.NET.
