"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Wednesday 9th April Workings...

Afternoon.

This afternoon completed, and went as follows.......

The 1st runner we wanted 3.45, and with being 3.5 on arrival and then a withdrawal and 3.5% reduction, we now wanted a lay price of 3.41 (3.4 nearest exchange price). The price then dipped far too much and so we easily got on at lower than the 3.4 needed, but we'll stick with that as to be sure to cover all aspects. The price then went the other way and drifted out to our own price of 3.7 (was 3.75 before reduction) and 'way' beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade looked beaten, but then rallied to win a very close photo finish (still looked as though it had lost to be honest!), so the way it goes, a very nice priced winner (returned sp 3/1) after the big drift, and builders glad of the drift......

The 2nd runner we wanted 2.56, but a non runner and 5.0% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.48. There was then another non runner and further 4.5% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.4. The price was around 3.1 on arrival, just got bigger, and never came down anywhere near our lay price at any stage, so a race to avoid for all. The runner got beat after a battling finish, so the drift justified, and 'one that got away in hindsight'.........

The 3rd runner we wanted 1.5, and with being around 1.57 on arrival and only getting bigger and bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so a race to avoid for all. The runner went and won well enough, so a fair priced winner, but more importantly a good leave........

The 4th runner we wanted 3.1, and with drifting to around 4.1 on arrival and not coming back down to our lay price, race to race players had to avoid the race. The runner looked the winner, but made a terrible mistake at the 2nd last, so came in 2nd! So the drift beat race to racers to the punch. Grr! Early traders happy though.........

The 5th runner we wanted 2.32, but a non runner and 4% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.27 (2.26 nearest exchange price). There was then another non runner and further 12.3% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.11 (2.1 nearest exchange price). The price had drifted to around 2.48 on arrival and although dropping back down, it never dropped enough, so race to race players had to avoid another race. The runner came in 2nd after a battle, so again the drift beat race to racers to the punch. Grr! Early traders happy though...........

The 6th runner we wanted 3.3, but a non runner and 18.2% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.88. The price was a well supported 2.36 on arrival, so we had a lay at 2.36. The price then went for quite a walk, and out to our own price of 3.18 (was 3.6 before reductions) and beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade was beaten, so a good result.......

The 7th runner we wanted 1.6, and with being around 1.83 on arrival and not coming down to our lay price at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner came in 2nd after a dour battle, so 'one that got away in hindsight'..........

The 8th runner we wanted 1.8, and with being around 2.12 on arrival and just getting bigger and bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so a race to avoid for all. The runner came in 2nd after a battle, and after making a few very bad jumping errors, so unlucky to be honest, but from our point of view it was 'one that got away in hindsight'........

The 9th and final runner, we wanted 2.32, and with getting that and slightly shorter on arrival, we had a lay at 2.32 max. Thee was then a withdrawal and 2.5% reduction, so now we wanted 2.29 (2.3 nearest exchange price) to make the full lay back up. It was there and so we were all back on again. There was then another withdrawal and further 5.7% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.22 to make the full lay back up again. Again the price was there and so we were back on again with a full lay. The price then went for a walk the other way, and out to our own price of around 2.62 and beyond, so a chance for traders (builders finished for the day) to have a 'free' lay before the race. The lay/trade looked in a bit of trouble, but pulled it out to win, so the way it goes......

WELL PLAYED/BATTLED.........(2 from the first 3 (66.66%) went and won - and then drifters and seconds galore, that made it quite frustrating, but pleased to say we came through it all OK)

'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) had to concede a little 0.5 of a target..............They started their 1st strategy/target on the 1st runner, and then after watching winners go in, and several drifters get beat, they ended up on their 3rd lay (the 9th and final runner) to recoup a tiny bit, but a poor result see them concede 0.5 of a target on the session...

'Bank building' strategy/target players started with a 'free' lay (the 1st runner) that only bought sheer relief.......5 runner builders were then left with an insufficient amount of potential lays left, so they end it here and level........

4 runner builders played on and had another 'free' lay (the 6th runner) that bought a tiny profit.........and that left them with an insufficient amount of potential lays left too, so they end winning 0.1 of a target....

Bank builder 4 runner strategy/target. £400 bank. Max 25% target £100

'Free' lay bought no free profit, only relief.

Total bank remains £400

'Free' lay bought average/minimum profit £10

Total bank now £410

That left an insufficient amount of potential lays remaining to start a strategy, so they end it here.

Overall result. Win 0.1 of a target.

Bank builder 5 runner strategy/target. £400 bank. Max 25% target £100

'Free' lay bought no free profit, only relief.

Total bank remains £400

They then found themselves running out of enough potential lays left to start a strategy, so they end it here.

Overall result. Level.

Traders either won, or broke level on all their trades, and so they did a good job.....

So a tedious session completed, and with early winners and those frustrating drifters, I suppose getting out levels, or winning a bit will suffice!, so well played/battled builders. Rollers had all the same frustration, and could never get going today, and although a 0.5 target loss isn't any problem, it's still frustrating when the markets act like they did today. Never easy this time of year as the markets fluctuate far too much and leave us vulnerable, but that's the way it is and it will soon calm down guys, as regulars will know...Have a good evening and speak in the morning....

All races priced up with non runners taken into account, up until 09:39am.

That's what we have to work around for this afternoon then. Tricky with a mixture of make ups and that unexposed nature, leaving us vulnerable to drifts and gambles, but we still have enough ammunition to warrant going into battle, so discipline to the maximum, and take advantage of any prices that come our way...

Good luck and speak soon with the results mail, plus the workings for this evening's racing...
