So sadly we bid farewell to Clairwood Race course on the 2nd August, how many of you will be bidding the course farewell in person on Saturday?
Where will the clanners be?

wow another track closing down. When I lived there we still had Milnerton, Newmarket, Arlington, Gosforth Park and Bloemfontein. That's around 1 track closed every 5 to 6 years

Won't be there but sad to see it go. Pretty much an end to betting in Durban for me, really dislike Greyville, maybe I'll look at the Poly again when it has bedded down a bit and some consistent form can be read there. The turf course pretty much lost me a year ago.

Ja, I also think my fav course. I have a particular fond memory when being there and backing Face North to a pillar-to-post victory in the Mainstay 1800. I should have, could have won the Pick 6 on the same day of abt R100 grand when the grey The Earth Moved won one of the legs. But that is another story.
I hope the new owners look after the Clairwood lily, the only place on the planet where this plant lives.
Adios.

As G Woodruff said the officials always hold one view and the general population the opposite.Clairwood was the home of the punter here in KZN.Just ask Mr Rowles

Very sad to see the course go , good memories used to watch at the fence near the 400m mark as a youngster after school spent the next 30 years going to the course

Always sad to see a racecourse close but it is not unique to South Africa. Am happy to say that I'll be there. Looking forward to seeing the Asian Young Guns in action. We hosted this event in Singapore in 2010 and to see the enthusiasm - and talent - of these youngsters, is so special.
The young apprentice from Singapore Noh Senari has had it all to do as he had to complete 2 years National Service and obviously came back a lot heavier than when he started. But sheer dedication has seen him overcome this and doing well. Joao Moreiria was his mentor - need I say more?
Hope to see some of the ABC. Clan on Saturday.
