Double for me
Wild thing onto run the arrow. I won't be taking 14/10 about a first timer on the sand when u see the form run the arrow has over the c/d and no more. It's form looks suspect as I believe the 1600 on the sand is too far. Seems to see it out on the turf tho. I believe 1450 is his ideal c/d and I make a big runner. Would rather take 16/10 the place about him then 14/10 about sepiaggia play we'll chaps.

First race I'm not convinced about the Miss masala form of the raced runners my preference is for By Jove however it's a guess whether sand will suit being by AP it should so I'd much rather take a risk on her or a first timer. I'm also a little concerned about Louis Erasmus yard at the moment. Possible virus. He sent out a few of his younger horses on Sunday at turfontein and unless they are All sand horses that hate the turf I don't recall one of them being close to any of the places. (I'd know because I backed them) 8-)

Not that unusual for horses from certain stables to frequently run like donkeys before miraculously transforming into a horse resembling Shergar and causing a 40/1 shock CCND. Of course at midnight, sadly the Cinderella-esque horse returns to pulling carts etc...

Usual competitive stuff on the Vaal sand, thoughts:

R1: This should show us something about the draw bias down the straight for the day; Double Ridge drawn towards the outside and Lavender Girl on the inside - can't really find anything to trouble these two - but any of these lightly raced juveniles could still improve (only Nkomo has had more than 5 runs)

R2: Not a lot between Wild Thing, Tiger's Legacy and Jimmijagga on their runs behind Battle of Alma - all 3 should be considered - Sirocco Bay not that far behind Jimmijagga in January, and Delicious Damowin also showed pace in his only try on the sand to date - tricky

R3: Rolling Ruby and Run the Arrow probably the safer option as both at least have produced some fair form on the sand; Run for Revelry, Cayenne Club and Spiaggia drawn 1,2 and 3 respectively and all try the sand - who knows?

R4: Steelwing won nicely last time and could follow up; but none of the others (bar perhaps Deckie Boy) can be said to have no chance at all - so either take a chance on Steelwing, or load up

R5: Competitive handicap; Duty Dance obvious chance again, but Sole Mio has the advantage of the 1 draw and could be best over this trip; Vulcan and Shepherd's Song are two others that catch the eye and Big Cat Diary does come from a wide draw and suffers from breathing issues, but on his best efforts could easily place

R6: Fillies and mares handicap that has attracted some nice fillies; Tayba very classy over this trip and does get the 4kg's off, but will need every ounce to keep Spring Blaster at bay; Secret Magok also put a very good last effort over 1450 and looks better over the 1200; Lady Casey another interesting contender on her unbelievable maiden win over this trip; Weekend Special is at best over this trip and along with La Tigresse (by Tiger Ridge, so should enjoy the sand) and even Tinchy Stryder (who looks something of a dark horse) could feature.

R7: Ice Goddess has some good form over this trip, has a good draw and with Striker in the irons again, should go close; Julie Doolittle could be a danger, but is drawn a bit wide and has to give IG 5 kg's (that darn MR system again :P); these two stand out imo, from the likes of Love From Al (tries the sand, tough task from the draw), Step it Up (fancied last time and tries 1200). Elegant Parade (back to 1200?) and Lady Justice (tries the sand, but stable in hot form)

R8: Tough closing race imo - for me IF the inside draw is not too much of a problem, I think Royal Stock can easily place at big odds; stablemate Kwaaiwater is very effective over this trip as well and needs consideration; others that interest me are, Katch (tries the sand) and Eagle Face (some fair form over this trip); Rodeo Dandy and Baldwin (sand debut) probably can't be ignored, but look no value to me; Black Pepper for me needs to confirm his Flamingo form

Enjoy (tu)
