Just the one for me from Vaal today, one who I think should be a clear favourite. Was tempted by Wishful Heart in the later races but don't think the current odds are quite value, even though Strydom is back on board and a nice draw for a change.

Race 4 - Siamese Figher ran a very promising race last time out over C&D five days back, in a higher grade under this promising apprentice and proving that he's at least in decent form means he's got that advantage over the vast majority of these. This race is full of types who look badly out of form and the current favourite with the UK books in Perfect Trip, hardly looks a winner in waiting, especially with that one's run style not really suiting the track and the form of his last run not being up to much.

Siamese Fighter's last run only came five days ago, so there are some slight concerns about the race coming too soon but it at least proves he's in good heart at the moment, especially important for these lower grade animals. He was always up with the pace that day and they perhaps went too quick early on, as the winner came from quite far back. Siamese Fighter looked like he was going to drop back into 5th or 6th in the final 200m but stayed on really nicely to secure 3rd. That was a merit rated 80 race, and although not a great one for that grade, it was much better than the merit rated 68 race he contests today. Ryan Munger continues to impress and is great value for his claim, and from a fair draw given the field size, I think Siamese Fighter should be around 3/1. At the current odds, makes him a bet.

Didn't mention in my scrawl that Son Of A P may also be worth a small e/w, based on the stable and Bingo results, seen it has been supported, not unusual for a Spies horse, and not so sure I would do it at the current price but had a little at 25s

Race 5 is what Solo was talking about when he mentioned inconsistent sand surfaces.......................if we can't reproduce a consistent surface it makes a mockery of the sand MR's.
