Is the betting right, Legislate 18/10 and LTK 7/2 ... I thought they would be closer, IMO LTK better value??

Track doesn't worry me, what worries me is like Cherry On The Top last year is that he may have had too much racing and could be flat.

Bezant not in this race - but Bezanova at 16/1 good value :P - but another who is probably not ideally suited to Greyville.

Legislate the right horse though - has had a run at the track, distance not a problem; LTK could just need it, has not run at the track - even ad the odds I prefer Legislate - with all the doubts about the July runners, I took a double yesterday - Legislate for the DN onto LTK for the July (tu)

See Cpt America (9/2 into 33/10) has displaced LTK as second favourite (7/2 marginally out to 3.75/1). Interesting enough Rakes Chestnut has shortened marginally (8/1 into 7.5/1), this horse will start shorter on the day, firstly, the Marcus factor and secondly, nobody knows how good he really is. In the article posted by Noordhoek Ice, Woodruff didn't give RC no chance in the race. Would be interesting to know whether LTK and RC worked together, and what was the outcome. Therefore it goes without saying, the Woodruff stable would have a fair idea of RC chances come Saturday. If money does come (say into 4's, 9/2), then I would make him a big runner, despite him being a one time winner.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

On his run behind Lockheed Jetstar, RC needs some improvement - not impossible, but for me I need to see that improvement first; also I don't think their work is much of a pointer - some horses are not great workers, and Woodruff also said that LTK is not a great worker

I agree Frodo - I think the formbook shows how good he is but more importantly there must be something wrong with him as he has not had the program that the others from Gauteng have had - That first run, though he won by a mile, was against moderate types - Will need a miracle from Anton/Woody to see him win against what seems to be a very strong crop - Level weights with 109's !! Let him run well but the handicap says backing this horse at 7-1 is crazy

Point taken on LTK not being a good work horse, then again they could work him against anything decent sort in the yard to get some sort of guide as to where he is at this stage. I don't think they would run him in the DN 2000 if they didn't feel he was close to the top three year olds, stable opinion obviously. Don't think the owner is doing it for a stake cheque, he's flush with money anyway. Something else, he is not a nominee in the race that Futura is using as a qualifying route, so one has to assume they only having one go at qualifying him for the July, and it's Saturday. Regards problems, read somewhere Woodruff said the horse didn't take to the gelding immediately, then someone posted the reason he was scratched from the Vaal meeting, abnormal blood count. Again one has to assume the problem wasn't major. If you take the three above him in the betting, they all have valid excuses not to run to the true potential, Legislate - second run after the rest, Cpt America - I'm not convince the Greyville track suits this horse, LTK - are they going all out to win this or is this just a prep run for the July. I still believe RC is the joker in the pack come Saturday, he could be anything.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Clanners after a nice long chat with the man in the know he said RC must not be left out of anything for the season.
Hope that helps.

If you watch this replay you might change your mind! Rake's Chestnut debut His time that day over 1400m at the Vaal was more than a second quicker than Louis The King's in the previous race.
