hibs just went on the link and watched a few races last night,,..think it was about 4 races, from peterborough and romford...in the 4 races..not a favourite won...and the scrimmaging...does dog racing have a high % of favourites winning...or did i just watch the wrong races...all the races i watched had favourites at around 6/4...all getting beat.....must say though the action comes thick and fast

Don't get me started on what happens to most of the dogs when the owners don't want them anymore.

The Killing Field
In a horrific example of the industry’s cruelty, in 2002 the remains of approximately 3,000 greyhounds from Florida racetracks were discovered on the Alabama property of a former racetrack security guard who had been “retiring” unwanted greyhounds with a .22-caliber rifle for more than 40 years.(2) The attorney for the accused said, “If there’s anybody to be indicted here, it’s the industry because this is what they’re doing to these animals. The misery begins the day they’re born. The misery ends when my client gets ahold of them and puts a bullet in the head.”(3)
In a similar case in the U.K., an undercover investigation by the Sunday Times revealed that a builder’s merchant had been taking healthy greyhounds who had been judged by their trainers to be too slow to race, killing them with a bolt gun, and burying them in a 1-acre plot behind his home. The paper estimated that the man had killed more than 10,000 dogs over a 15-year span.(4)
These massacres illustrate that greyhounds are treated as though they are disposable running machines. They are produced in quantities that require the disposal of surplus dogs, and industry workers regularly kill greyhounds who become injured, grow old, or are deemed too slow or no longer profitable

Why do we allow this to happen. Every bet we make a percentage should be placed into a fund (for horses and greyhounds) so that they too can have a great retirement. We get so much pleasure from them so we should give it back to them. Yes tens of thousands of horses and greyhounds are rehomed but killing one is just not good enough. We should save them all as its our duty as human beings.

Greyhound racing is very well regulated ,the dogs are bred to race not to be pets,if the can`t be re homed they should euthanised, like racehorses are in Hong Kong and Maritus

RG greyhound racing is highly regulated these days, the bad or good old days of drugs and mice pie stories are long gone.
Trainers are on a contract at a track and betting and improvement is investigated
Graded racing is very tough, but the open race scene ( higher class of dogs) can be a bit easier.
It`s much easier to read a greyhound race than a horse race,ie if the 1 and 2 dog are kippers and 3,4,5,6 run to the bend there is a good chance there will be a bit scrimmaging on the out side and one of the kippers will get run at them
