MILDURA JUDGING ISSUE
Harness Racing Victoria was forced to amend the results of Race 6 at Mildura due to an error made by the officiating judge.
The Greg Flemings trained Oils Jay Bee was originally declared the winner of the race from Hayabusa Flyer. Following connections querying the results after the all-clear was declared on the race, the photo was re-examined by the judge together with the Stewards.
At that point it was confirmed by all parties that the Andrew Prothero- trained Hayabusa Flyer had in fact held on for victory by the narrowest margin.
Stewards in accordance with the rules of Harness Racing had no choice but to amend the placings of the race.
The judge explained that a shadow on the print may have contributed to the difficulties in reaching the original decision.Ultimately the judge concluded he had made an error.
Such an error is a very rare occurance and despite already having the finishing line surveyed in the last 12 months, along with an upgrade of equipment, there are further plans to mitigate any further risks.
State of the art digital technology to the value of Aus Doll 35,000--- will be installed permanently at the track thru the HRV Development Fund with the training of the Mildura judges to proceed thereafter.
P.S.
The horse the judge INCORRECTLY put in the frame as the winner was the $ 1-7O favorite and the eventual amended winner was at $7-1O. So you be the judge, where did he have his money on?

Naaah disagree. The fact that an error was discovered and then reversed the placings is absolutely commendable. Here, Phum would have said their hands are tied because of rule #, blah, blah, blah. And then, which is even more commendable, is that there are even further plans to mitigate the risk despite the plans which have already been implemented. Well done Aussies...

Agreed but it was the connections who queried the judge's placings, so where were the Stewards, busy taking down notes on who to issue a ban?

On that same note clyde basel's call on the finish of the Horse Chestnut was a shocker. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in that the horses were separated by virtually the width of the course, but to get it wrong on the slomo replay was definitely strange. To further compound this he sounded totally shocked when the judge disagreed with him.

Yeah, guess his sales n marketing portfolios messing around with his commentary. I thought he was one the best that we had. It was as if he was willing CTN to be the winner, not only because it was fav, but it would have been a huge advert to encourage the the out of town guys to come up for the Joburg features. Would have created more hype.
