Have not heard that, but whilst down there, heard that they finding it difficult to get support. Never heard that from them though, so treat as a rumour.

It's extremely difficult for the smaller yards to get support and survive and be competitive even though they are just as good horseman as the bigger yards!

Apart from finding clients, Bruss has really struggled to find winners in WC.
Should have remained in KZN , I guess

The Natal season is just about to kick off. The talented Drakenstein Stud bred filly Lanner Falcon should kick proceedings off for the stable when she tackles the KRA fillies’ Guineas which takes place on May 3rd.

Mike Bass’ long-time Assistant Trainer Robert Fayd’Herbe is back in the fold after a stint training under his own license and has been overseeing the preparation of Lanner Falcon, Alascan Maiden and Top Jet, who run in the Champions Season’s opening meeting at Greyville on Saturday.
The former pair run in the KRA Fillies Guineas, where they have drawn wide in 13 and nine respectively, although that will improve slightly if the current three reserve runners come out.
Fayd’Herbe said, “Lanner Falcon is doing very well at home, although it’s a tough field and she has drawn a bit wide.”
The classy Trippi filly finished second in the Gr 1 Avontuur Estate Fillies Guineas, a length behind In The Fast Lane, who looks the horse to beat on Saturday.
She ran a good pipe opener in the weight for age Gr 3 Poinsettia Stakes over 1200m at Clairwood on April 20, where she finished a 0,3 length third. She will have benefitted from that run, which was her first outing since finishing a one-length second in the Gr 3 Prix du Cap over 1400m at Kenilworth on February 22. She has speed, but the mile should now be roundabout her optimum trip.
Fayd’Herbe agreed that the Captain Al filly Alascan Maiden, who finished a 1,95 length fourth in the Avontuur Estate Fillies Guineas and downfield in the Poinsettia last time out, had been a touch disappointing considering the regard in which she was held, but added, “She is a quiet horse who is best from 1600-2000m and she will be better as a four-year-old. She has had a gallop and has come on a lot, but she hasn’t got the greatest draw.”
Three-year-old gelding Top Jet is likely to be improving all the time, being by Jet Master. He won the Listed RA Stakes over 1600m at Fairview early in the season, a race that gained renown due to the consecutive wins of two subsequent July winners Big City Life and Bold Silvano a few years ago. However, he was beaten nine lengths in the Gr 1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas, so has a tough task on Saturday against the narrow runner-up of that race, Captain America.
Fayd’Herbe said, “He ran a very good race in his Durban pipe opener (one length second to the classy Futura over 1600m at Clairwood). He is drawn one so a lot is going his way, but it’s the toughest field he has faced. He’s a nice horse and we hope he can sneak a place.”
The yard’s six-year-old gelding Castlethorpe has the Gr 2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes over 1400m as his main Champions Season mission, but due to the track being narrowed to cater for the polytrack only 12 runners will be allowed and he is currently the second reserve.
