The 18-year working relationship between trainer Steve Asmussen and assistant Scott Blasi has come to an end after Asmussen informed the Daily News through text on Saturday afternoon.

Asmussen and Blasi have come under fire since an undercover investigation and video from PETA surfaced this week claiming the two allegedly abused and mistreated racehorses.

The New York Gaming Commission, the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and the New Mexico Racing Commission are all conducting investigations into the nine-minute clip, where Blasi is the main focal point.

Asmussen texted a full press release will come out early next week regarding Blasi’s dismissal.

On Friday, the Racing Hall of Fame removed Asmussen’s name from the Hall of Fame ballot, as he was named one of the 10 finalists for induction earlier this month.

Asmussen has saddled 6,728 winners, the second-best in the history of horse racing and has won purses totaling close to $215 million, the fifth most in racing.

He trained Curlin to Horse of the Year honors in 2007 & 2008 and also captured the award in 2009 with the filly Rachel Alexandra.

Attempts to reach Blasi through phone and text were unsuccessful.

.....ever so typical for men to smear a female whistle blower.....with the sexual connotations.....they are so busted that they are now totally mistrusted.....much more dirty tactics in USA racing by even bigger trainers than this.....they are not horsemen but butchers and dope artists
.....the semi legalisation of race medication saw a new breed of needle merchants and built a few pharmaceutical empires to supply the needs of the very greedy....:(

Simple solution for the trainer assistant trainer and the vet
HDQ hung drawn and quatered
I hope the American SPCA get involved These leg treatment can be painful for the horse
and the feet even worse
They should all be barred for all tracks in my opinion
