And even the presenters highlight the VALUE of the Tote
11 years 2 months ago
My mate Shaw who is perhaps too honest for his own good, indirectly points out the VALUE of NOT using the TOTE when rank outsider Pretty Flaming R30 a win tote and 90 CENTS a place (while the form studiers/bookmakers have it at 475/100 to place) , almost runs 3rd in race 4 Fairview-
Now who in their right mind would want to use such an unpredictable platform(109 k place pool if Shaheen is correct)- Now if this was BETFAIR I'm sure the Red Flag would be up and accounts would be checked !! The Tote is as predictable as the movements of a headless chicken

Muhti Shaheen was pointing that out - He said someone lumped on the horse just"before" the off

And so the mystery overseas punter strikes again...I repeat that if they chose to do their jobs, they will find that the answer lies much closer to home...DISGRACEFUL...
And the operator wants to espouse the value and benefit of the tote when payouts defy ALL logic...

Surely somebody somewhere is playing a game and AGAIN the Tote will do nothing and fob off the normal punter in favor of the big spending MANIPULATOR (which is against NHRA rule so they should take action to protect us and their JOBS)

I'm a CA, RA and just completed a Forensics exam so I try not to cast aspersions but rather see things logically...and the probability of large money coming from overseas on horses that have little local money just doesn't make sense...this leaves late cancellation of bets on favoured horses or increased tickets on these "outsiders"...now, late cancellations can be isolated by tracking branch/es involved but increased tickets can only originate "closer to home" as best as I can deduce...
We are pointing the powers that be where they need to look but they are unlikely to look as either failure shows deficiencies in their oversight...

In many of my previous posts, i have raised the fact that every bet placed should generate an audit trail, so it can easily be traced, where, what time, which teller machine, amount placed etc, etc..
Unfortunately, this data will never be divulged, as this will show Phum up, for their lack of controls, or alternatively, they are aware of what is happening and don't see a need to prevent tote manipulation.
The majority of punters, see this happening, but don't have a platform through which they can voice their views.
P**ssing against the wind, with this lot.
Had the 13 ran 3rd, the "mystery punter", would have won the bet, but lost some of his money. Whatever happened to the minimum payout of R1 rule??
I think this is another example for Mr VM, to investigate, if he intends to take charge of the situation.

Can you imagine poor Hollywood trying to work out the correct dividend for this horse paying so much for a place now. Everyone that had tote places with them most prob seen as being a syndicate or something more sinister. Maybe the operator is doing all these things on purpose to f%^# around the bookies laying the open bet. Bookies might be having some large unneccassy exposures every now and then!!

But an audit trail is generated...easier to blame a "mystery overseas punter" who cannot defend any allegations than face up to home truths...
It doesn't affect me personally as I used to take fixed odds wins / places only with bookies...in interests of sport and multitude of people, mainly older folk, who punt...my Dad being one of them...all it takes for a wrong to be perpetuated is for good men to be silent...I'm taking liberties here and assuming us clanners are the "good men" (women included...) fighting the good fight not just for ourselves...against a common enemy who are behaving more and more with the impunity we have come to associate with the ANC government...

72.1.29 place a bet or bets on a HORSE with the intention of altering the totalisator pool so
as to create a favourite, which in the absence of such a bet or bets, would not be a
favourite;
This rule is part of NHRA RULES but in all the time where BRUCE DOWN-UNDER has being bobbing his head up and down on our tote(if you BELEIVE the official line) when has the NHRA ever investigated thses uncanny patterns - Do your jobs STIPES or get someone to rewrite your RULES!!!
Not so much as an inquiry and allowing LATE money onto our tote is creating a false favourite if you use the intelligent option and look at the Bookies price!!

Well put, the sad reality?
Too Many idiots in authority, appointed for all the wrong reasons.
Something has gotta give, soon.
