thought I should post on a different topic and answer your question
You asked when did I stop punting
Started more years ago than I would like to admit
Still punt but a bit differenty to years ago
Why? Because fortunately I do not need the money but still get the thrill of the chase which sometimes is better than the kill
Go to the course most weekends and sometime on mid week
Take last Sat At the course I was told by somebody who I rate Back Twentymanjones "If he jumps will not get beat"
Won R1000. Ron Sheehan who is not a mug tipped me his filly Had R100 on and took a double with Repertoire W/P
Then a freind who is a stats guy tipped Mlords throat because the MR had dropped 2 and they claimed 8 after a good run 0.7
behind King of Pain So having a few Exactas finished up losing a bit but finished a big winner
Also I dont think the Snaiths are a good PUNTING stable because they have too many races with multiple runners
No other reason
Golden Rule Be as good a loser as you are a winner and dont punt above your means which I did many times in the past

Just wondered due to your reference to Willie Kleb, I worked for the late Gregg Botten who's Dad was assistant to Theo De Klerk in the same era as WK and later took over the yard which Gregg inherited before going on his own...You seemed disillusioned with the current state of affairs in racing and no doubt are comparing it to "back in the day" however it is not all doom and gloom as it is continually portrayed to be and the fact that you remain in the game after all these years is indicative that you dont really believe that the skullduggery is as rife as you claim it to be , ...a point i will continue to defend vehemently along with adolf, idi, Bob M and co...
Give everything but up!
