Eskom do give subsidies for Solar Panels and Geysers.

Only for certain of "their" approved manufacturers and installers....keeps out the shoddy fly by nights....but excludes some high end panel producers and thus the costs.....15 year payback or more

Just out of interest. The Chinese have a solution to the earths power challenge nd hope to have it in place by 2030. The plan is to build a kilometre wide solar array around tbe moons equator which is permanently in the sun. Power to be transmitted to earth by laser and some other technology I
cannot remember. The generated output is believed to be sufficient for entire earth requirements. The technology already exists and the challenge now is developing the robots required to assemble the array.
