CHELTENHAM - Day 4 - Fri 14 Mar 2014
11 years 2 months ago
Race 1; Triumph Hurdle; 15h30; 4yo's only; abt 3,400m; 8 hurdles; Lester Piggot was once a winning jock in this race; Tuesday's ill-fated Our Conor won this race last year:
#6 CALIPTO; easy and impressive last two; on a hattrick; penultimate start beat a subsequent winner; hot Nicholls trains:
4/1 could be tight with 16 runners
Race 3; Albert Bartlet Spa Novices Hurdle; 16h40; 4yo's+; abt 4,800m; 12 hurdles; At Fishers Cross won this race last year:
#3 BRIAR HILL; going for seven in a row; classy - won last year's Champion Bumper; has beaten subsequent winners; hot Walsh rides and hot Mullins trains; but the rest of the field seems pish?:
What can we do about the very skinny 15/10 in a 20 horse field?
The blue riband of jump racing:
Race 4; the Cheltenham GOLD CUP; 17h20; 5yo's+; abt 5,300m, 22 fences; previous winners are Arkle, Best Mate, Golden Miller, Kauto Star, Desert Orchid and Mill House; Bob's Worth (#1 in this year's race and unbeaten in his last 5 runs at Cheltenham) won last year's race:
#7 LAST INSTALMENT; very impressive winning his last start, the Hennessy Gold Cup Chase, in Ireland;
7/1 available in a field of 14
Prosperous punting

Real pity the Gold Cup won't be televised (if it is can someone please tell me where)
. Loved watching the 2004 race with Best Mate grabbing the hattrick in a driving finish. (tu)

It was this day a few years ago that I was a guest of Betfair ( and managed an invite for Molly and Les Hobbs)
A day we will never forget

GUTAR PETE must win for the day to kick off in a blaze of glory as PE has made a grown man cry

You not the only one.
Need to take note of Molly's post on Wednesday, regarding Guitar Pete.
Maybe worth a bet.
He also fancies Silviniaco Conti in the 4th.
Wil be playing 1. Bobs Worth and 11. Silviniaco Conti to open the JP, followed by loaded x loaded x loaded.
JP 's have been paying well, R10k and R14k over the last two days.
