Polytrack for gauteng
11 years 3 months ago
Are weather patterns not indicating that a Polytrack in gauteng is a must-should the inside track not be converted......and what about that absolutely useless sand track - why spend all that money on compactors -cut the losses and convert to Polytrack -it at least appears to work!
Is there any actual plan in place for a Polytrack in gauteng??

If no punting, where are the funds going to come from for a polytrack surface...everything in the industry is funded by the punter (just like everything done by government is funded by the taxpapyer)...and just like how operators do nothing / very little for the benefit of the punter so does government do nothing / very little for the taxpayer...the similarities are shocking when when takes it further in terms of how the officials of the respective entities conduct themselves...noses at the trough...

Like all the other sales of racecourses to boost profits and increase dividends...part of the money will go to develop infrastructure but purpose of business is to generate returns for shareholders so majority of the funds from sale of Vaal or other racecourse (what's still left) will be distributed out as dividends...still need punters to fund the industry thereafter to provide stakes, etc...
Current squeeze (of bookmakers ) in industry is purely to generate profits to distribute and increase share price for the benefit of those holding large tranches of shares (some execs and some owners)...nothing to do with future well-being of industry...commonplace for business to focus on short-term as that is what execs are judged on and rewarded on...when industry is on it's knees, they will be long gone, having made a pretty penny in dividends, profits on sale of shares, executive remuneration, perks, etc...

when the sand track at the vaal was build we were sold the BS that if turf rains out it can be changed to sand track
I wonder if that has happened if maybe once or at the most twice if I am not mistaken

That is correct but it didn't stop the spin.....................................
I remember well the quote:.............."that should be the end of abandoned meetings".
Reality is sand is more vulnerable than the turf
And,in spite of the MR difference ,provision was discussed/made in the NHA and tote rules to move turf meetings to sand............perhaps,in retrospect, shows lack of planning /understanding!
