E-Toll Gauteng Update 6 March 2014
11 years 3 months ago
The system has now been functional for 3 months.
here is a breakdown of some facts that apply to my various vehicles
i have a small business that operates 4 vehicles in Central Gauteng. These vehicles use the toll roads every single week day. i estimate we have been thru 600 + gantry points in the 9 days. i chose not to register any of my vehicles with SANRAL but rather wait for an INVOICE and STATEMENT. To date i have not received anything for these 4 vehicles. ?????
i have two private cars i use in and around Gauteng probably been thru about 100 gantry' in the 90 days. i have yet to receive anything from SANRAL.
all my vehicles are registered correctly on ENATIS. My details have not changed in many many years.
My retired parents who live in the FREE STATE have been twice to Gauteng to drop me at the Airport in there 1 car. have received SMS' Multiple invoices and statements. Written confirmation with attached photographs for a total spend of 24 rand.
What a joke. if i now get an invoice for December and January travel i will request it be written off due to such a long delay in invoicing.

Sly, I have only been going through a gantry in my private vehicle about 5 times - I have received invoices / statements for each - strangely enough addressed to my home (street) address, whereas I receive license renewal notices to my postal address - which I assume is the address on eNatis - so where do they get my street address.
Unfortunately it looks like we will just have to grin and accept it - the 'law abiding' people will get nailed and the rest will just get away with it

As far as I know the Licensing Authority does not have jurisdiction over you E-toll account - in the same way that they can not refuse to renew your license if you have outstanding speeding fines :S

Never received 1st statement or invoices but did receive 2nd statement. I realised the difference by paying in the prescribed time so said to myself, self, the government will eventually win so instead of fighting about it and receiving a huge invoice at the end of my protest against e-tolls i deceided to register and they can collect the payment from my credit card.Once you've paid the pain is over

I realize this is the 'easy' way to go - but the more people that does not take the 'easy way out', the harder it is for them to be sustainable - a government minister said recently that only 23% of the vehicles going through the gantries have an e-tag - but yet Sanral says they are 'meeting their targets' - so either somebody is not telling the whole truth, or the tolls are too high - if one take into account that they are meeting their targets with only 23% of the targeted market :S
Hopefully the DA can be successful with their latest court bid - failing that I think the E-Tolls are here to stay :X

Eish... I use 2 gantries twice a day for 6 days a week. Have received statements and I think totalling abt R1500+. No e-tag. I'm crapping myself and thinking of surrendering and buying a tag.

Do you receive the statements early enough to qualify for the 'discount' - if so I believe there is not much difference between the 'discounted' amount and the amount you would have paid if you an e-tag :S

No nasty surprises, this is The new SA, where the word efficiency has been dropped out of the new Eengleesh dictionary.
I received an eToll bill about a month ago for traveling on a route I rarely travel on. Photographs + times etc included.
I also had to renew my motor vehicle license about a week ago. No probems experienced.
I have no intention of paying my eToll bill. Let these crooks use waste their money paying for resources to make me pay.
Enough of this brow beating crap. Citizens need to stand up. Our hard earned tax money is being used for self enrichment.
Are they going to send someone to arrest me for not paying a R200 bill. Do they have the resources for this.
These idiots in power cannot police a traffic light that does not work, how on earth are they going to collect, if a million drivers, do not respond to requests for payment.
Time to stand up people. The slide in this country has been going on for too long.
Consider the future of your children and grand children, if this slide continues.
