RIP Dad

Good morning to all of you. I am afraid that I am the bearer of very sad news today. My dad passed early yesterday morning following complications after surgery. Unfortunately his body began rejecting the new kidney almost immediately after the operation, and despite the best efforts of his doctors my dad didnt make it. His age was a definite factor and the surgeon told me that once his body started rejecting the kidney this put najor strain on his other organs and he suffered a heart attack. My dad had strict instructions that he not be recussitated should there be major complications and these wishes were respected. He never regained conciousness fully after the operation but I am assured by the medical team that he was comfortable and would not have suffered prior to his heart failing.

I am currently arranging the funeral and because of the logistics of getting family over from Greece, we are hoping to have this next week. Details of the arrangements will be given once they are finalised and any friends of his are very welcome to attend. I know that my father loved this site and some of you were very close to his heart. I am not a horse racing man having seen the effects it had on my father, however it amused me greatly to see my father roaring with laughter in front of his computer one minute, then swearing properly in Greek the next about something he had read. I was often asked to read what he had prepared to post, and in time got to recognise some posters that he favoured. Without being selective and with apologies to those I may have missed, dad had a particular fondness for louisg, hibernia and umlilo. I want to thank you three in particular for the cyber friendship you had with my dad, but a big thank you to all he interacted with. My father had been a horse man all his life, and prior to him finding this website had been quite bitter about the vast amounts of money he had lost to horses. He had a bet the day before he died so he was a confirmed addict, however he enjoyed taking these bets and to me I was grateful that he found an interest that kept his mind off his medical problems. I miss him already

in the end we do share one thing I am also sorry about the amount of money I have lost in this game but will also most probably die as an addict
