Jackson Retires

(5 February 2014)
David Thiselton
Bloodstock agent John Freeman revealed that Jackson has definitely been retired from racing and will stand at the farm that bred him, Highlands Farm Stud, who have also bought a quarter of the standard 40 sire shares available.
Owners Ian Longmore and Jack Mitchell have retained a quarter of the shares in the Brett Crawford-trained three-times Grade 1 winner and Freeman said that six of the remaining 20 shares had been sold already without him having yet sent out a press release.
Freeman said, “There is clearly something amiss and it appears to be internal, because we have done all the tests and he looked magnificent in the parade ring on Saturday. I’ve spoken to many horse people and a lot of them thought he was the best looking horse in the parade ring, he just has that wow factor about him.
“However, the owners felt it was pointless to keep him in training. It was not pleasant for them seeing him distressed after his races either.”

Enjoy your retirement Champ...you have earned it, and well done to the owners for putting the horses best interests first when making a decision that could not have been easy (tu)

stoopid question - what does it mean when they talk about a horse pulling up 'distressed'?
all the best Jackson, we loved following you and cheering you on!

What will be interesting now is to see how the owners of the top mares will perceive his career ....................champion or not?

Rob, would you not want a multiple G1 winner at classic distances to cover your mares?
