Kempton Summary
11 years 4 months ago
Race 1 – 1:30 – Download The Betvictor APP Now Claiming Stakes – class 5 – 3yo+ – 6f
Pabusar has ability but has only 1 win to his name which came as a juvenile. He should beat these hard held but whether he will or not is open to doubt. Capone (IRE) is the highest rated horse in the field but he is another that is badly out of form. He is a 3 times course and distance winner that hasn’t made the frame since 2012. M Attwater also sends Dixie Gwalia who is rated 33lbs inferior to Capone but has almost a stone here in the weights. She is another that is struggling for form since returning from a break and really shouldn’t be considered. Jubilee Brig has the best recent piece of form finishing 2nd last time at Lingfield. He wasn’t beaten far behind Mr David and a repeat of that dropped in trip should be enough to land this. An awful race to kick start the card that makes no appeal betting wise.
Race 2 – 2:00 – Back Of The Net At Betvictor.com Fillies Handicap – class 5 – 4yo+(0-75) – 6f
Ray Of Joy is a course specialist that is very well treated on her best form. She is on a fair losing run but there was plenty of encouragement that her win-less streak could be coming to an end with a 2nd last time in a handicap behind Rigoletto. She isn’t the force of old but she has t be considered if able to build on her last run. Welsh Sunrise made it 2 wins from 7 starts last time out here over 7f in a similar race. She is up 3lb which is fair and she looks to hold every chance if able to cope with the drop in trip. There doesn’t look to be a lot of pace on which could count against her if it turns into a crawl. Barbs Princess has won 2 of her 10 starts both of which have come on turf. She has gone close to adding to that tally in 3 runs at Wolverhampton including last time where she was denied by a head by Layla’s Oasis. She is up 2lb and has to prove as effective at this track. Her sire Bahamian Bounty has a 8.25% s/r over course and distance and Charles Hills has losing record here. Clock Opera (IRE) has won 2 of her 16 starts and arrives in fair form having not been beaten far at Lingfield by Random Success. She doesn’t look to have anything in hand and also despite finishing 2nd here in the past this track doesn’t look to suit. Barbs Princess and Welsh Sunrise are both on the upgrade.
Race 3 – 2:30 – Book Hospitality At Kempton Park Handicap div 1 – class 6 – 4yo+(0-55) – 2m
Dance performed with credit out of the blue last time finishing 2nd behind The Ginger Berry. She is stepped up in trip which should suit as she has some bumper form and she looks to have every chance if able to build on her last run. Bell’arte (IRE) is an 11 race maiden that showed nothing for Mark Johnston. She also pulled a performance out of the blue last time out over course and distance finishing 2nd to Luckster. She has to build on that run to win this but she is unexposed at the trip and has claims if able to do so. Galiotto (IRE) showed sings of a return to form last time out in selling grade finishing 3rd at Lingfield. He is on a winning mark and is another who has claims if able to build on the run. Azabitmour (FR) is a lunatic that has refused to race on more than one occasion. He came in for strong market support last week over course and distance and was just denied in a blanket finish by Newnton Cross. He is not one to rely on but he has claims if able to build on that run. Blackstone Vegas is a course and distance winner that is on a good mark. his losing run is stretching back a while now and he hasn’t looked likely of ending it any time soon. It is an extremely weak race though that won’t take much winning. A tricky race to call with many of these having more negatives than positive. Dance is less exposed than most and she has to go close if seeing out the trip.
Race 4 – s3:00 – Book Hospitality At Kempton At Kempton Park Handicap div 2 – class 6 – 4yo+(0-55) – 2m
The Young Master arrives in form having won his last flat start and also been winning over hurdles. He is up 6lb for his last gasp win at Southwell beating the non stayer Neighbourhood and he makes obvious appeal if able to proves as effective at this track. He has been thriving over longer trips in the mud over hurdles and although he is far from dismissed the concern is he lacks speed for 2m at this track. Ice Apple is a consistent mare kept to this grade but 1 win from 19 starts tells its own story. Magicalmysterytour (IRE) is a very well treated horse but he hasn’t won since 2010 and hasn’t placed on the level since 2011. Go Amwell was a course and distance winner way back in 2007. He is mainly kept to the jumping game these days and it could be connections are getting a run into him whilst the ground is on the heavy side. Zelos Diktator has just a maiden win to his name on the level but he does have some course and distance form that would give him a chance. He looks to be the main opponent to the favourite.
Race 5 – 3:30 – Betvictor Nonrunner No Bet Cheltenham 2014 Maiden Fillies Stakes – class 5 – 3yo+ – 1m
Bylerbey (USA) is bred to be smart but she must of been hard to train as it has taken this long to get to the track. She is bred to act on the surface and with the yard in top form she has to be considered. It will be interesting to see how she fares in the betting as strong support could be significant. Speechday (IRE) stepped up on her debut run to finish 2nd next time behind subsequent winner Just One Kiss at Lingfield. She has obvious claims on just her 3rd start as further improvement is likely. She wasn’t beaten far on her debut at the this track and she is the one they all have to beat. Mists Of Time (IRE) came in for some market support on her 2nd start which suggests she is thought capable but with the yard in dire form and his long absence she is overlooked. Confiture improved for her debut run to finish 3rd last time over course and distance. She has every chance if able to build on that run and she is another to consider. The market will speak in favour of the fancied horses. Speechday and Confiture are both in with obvious claims but both qualify for a mark after this run.
Race 6 – 4:00 – Cheltenham 2014 NRNB At Betvictor.com Handicap London Mile Series Qualifier – class 4 – 4yo+(0-85) – 1m
Cayuga ended a year long wait for a win with a course and distance victory 3 runs back. He comes into this on the back of his 2nd win in 3 starts with a 10f win last time at Lingfield. He is up 3lb in a better race but he is unexposed on the AW and one to consider. Conversational (IRE) took 13 runs to get off the mark but didn’t waste any time following up next time which were her first 2 starts for Mick Channon. She has to prove herself as effective at this track but being by Thousand Words there is every chance he will do so. Mick Channon has a 21.3% s/r with last time out winners which is another positive. Diplomatic (IRE) is a course specialist but this looks to hot a race for him. Legendary arrives in form having finished 2nd on his last 2 starts. He was well beaten over course and distance 3 runs back by Dixies Dream (IRE) and he is not weighted to reverse the form without taking his wide draw into account. Fantasy Gladiator s a course and distance winner that isn’t badly treated on his best form. He is only 3lb higher than when bolting up at Wolverhampton and he is one to consider at a ecent price. His run style can leave him vulnerable to the gaps appearing at the right times but he has every chance of doing so. He is the e/w value in the race along with Dixies Dream.
Race 7 – 4:30 – Betvictor Nonrunner Free Bet At Cheltenham 2014 Handicap – class 5 – 4yo+(0-70) – 1m3f
Nights Watch broke his maiden 2 runs back at Lingfield and followed up with a 3rd back there last time behind Keene. He has to prove as effective at this track but has every chance if doing so. Rowan Ridge has won 2 of 24 starts including here over 12f. He went close back here behind Rocky Rebel 4 runs back and although he doesn’t look to have much in hand of the assessor, he saves his best for here and is one to consider. Auden (USA) took advantage of a drop in the weights to land a bit of a gamble 3 runs back at Southwell. He has held his form well over trips that are a bare minimum and with placed course form in the book he has to be considered as he is still well treated on his best form. Mighty Mambo is a 19 race maiden that has placed 4 times on the flat when with George Margarsson. He has been struggling for form over hurdles of late and although he is bred to act around here it is a risk banking on a return to the flat sparking him into life. Mazij is a 6 time winner that is started to look well treated. She showed up well for a fair way last time out and she has every chance off her current mark. She is one to watch in the betting as strong support could be significant. Nights Watch is sure to be popular.
Race 8 – 5:00 – Turftv Handicap – class 6 – 4yo+(0-55) – 1m4f
Midnight Sequel was smashed in the betting 2 runs back and landed the odds for her 4th course and distance win. She was well beaten off her revised mark next time and although she cannot be dismissed out of hand, others make more appeal. Sudden Wish (IRE) doesn’t do things very quickly but she did have enough in her locker to win over 10f here. She is fit from a spell over hurdles and she is one to consider seriously if she can overcome a poor draw. Penny Stock is a 5 race maiden and comes into this having seemed to go wrong last time out at Southwell. Her previous 3rd behind The Blue Dog would give her every chance. The yard is in fine form and it would be no surprise were she to bounce back here. Petersboden has claims on his best form but is a bridle ponce and not one to trust. He has come there swinging on the bit entering the final furlong before and found nothing. Lisahane Bog is a 3 times course winner that is well in on his best form. He is on a long losing run stretching back to 2011 but he showed a bit more the last couple of runs and with Adam Kirby booked a big run wouldn’t be a surprise. Graylyn Ruby (FR) is a course and distance winner that’s on a losing run. He showed a bit more ast time out finishing 3 lengths behind Midnight Sequel and meets her on 4lb better terms. A poor race that won’t make much winning, Midnight Sequel is the current favourite at the time of writing but she has never been able to win off a mark this high. Sudden Wish makes more appeal at the head of the market. Lisahane Bog and Penny Stock both make some e/w appeal with slight preference for Penny Stock at 8/1
