Gold Circle racing are running a campaign to "Save the Rhino" , fair enough.
But that should run a campaign " Save KwaZulu Natal racing" - they are useless .... they have damaged racing over the years on numerous occasions.
see below : -
They shouldn't be allowed to trade
Gold Circle (Pty) Ltd - An A Empowerdex Rated Company No: 1998/24366/07
T/A GOLD CIRCLE RACING AND GAMING GROUP
P O BOX 40, DURBAN, 4000, SOUTH AFRICA

Kindiest regards

RACING TO SAVE THE RHINO RACEMEETING
14 MARCH 2014
Leading South African horseracing personalities have joined the fight to save the rhino by collectively donating hundreds of thousands of rands, personally or through their businesses, to Gold Circle’s Racing To Save The Rhino race meeting to be held at Clairwood in Durban on Saturday, March 29.
Describing the response as “phenomenal”, Gold Circle’s Ambassador and enthusiastic driver of the project, Bill Lambert, said he was staggered by the response that had “made my hearty glad.” His initial fund-raising target of R150 000 had been surpassed by a long way through the sponsorship by the personalities of the 10 races on the card.
The racing operator joined the battle in support of Project Rhino KZN as part of its extensive social investment programme and has thrown its weight behind the cause this year in partnership with Project Rhino KZN.
Lambert said Gold Circle’s involvement was sparked by a plea for help from Russell Collins of the Ken Collins Charity Trust and quickly taken up by the racing organisation.
As Graeme Hawkins, Racing and Marketing Executive of Gold Circle put it, “It all started as a small idea to assist in solving a big problem and has mushroomed into a full card of sponsored races.”
Lambert, affectionately known as “William of Wembley” for his long and enthusiastic involvement in the business and community affairs of Pietermaritzburg, also has a consuming love of nature and a long history and pedigree in horseracing in the province with his roots dating back to 1 896 when his grandfather was one of the earliest members of the City Sporting Club. His father Frank was a long-serving steward and chairman of the Pietermaritzburg Turf Club.
He has driven the fundraising project like a charging rhino saying while some people might regard the rhino as “ugly” to him they are “magnificent and very special animals.”
A competition to win a three-night stay for ten people at Bayete Zulu Game Lodge - Zululand Rhino Reserve is up for grabs and if the winner is at Clairwood when the lucky entry is drawn Gold Circle will add and additional prize of R5000 cash to assist with catering while at the reserve.
Gold Circle is proud to join the race to save the rhino and looks forward to an exceptional event.
INFORMATION ON PROJECT RHINO KZN
Project Rhino KZN is an initiative of KZN’s conservation sector and unites the province’s state, private and civil society stakeholders. By working together, PRKZN adds extra levels of support and protection. Rhino poaching threats are continuing to intensify, as consumer demand from Asian countries shows no sign of abating and also driven by increasing numbers of local and international criminal syndicates.
Raising funds and ensuring they are directed to genuine and urgently needed activities is a main priority of Project Rhino KZN. Fighting back against rhino poaching is not just the domain of the conservation sector; the loss of one of our Big 5 will also have a serious impact on socio-economic factors such as tourism and job creation. The support of the KZN community is critical to Project Rhino KZN’s continuing efforts to work together and turn the tide against rhino poaching.

Well, there you go..... that's exactly why I made those comments. I'm simply pointing out the poor track record of the Gold Circle hierarchy.... going back many many years.
They are repeat offenders guilty of gross incompetence.
and then Paul Lafferty brasses over it with his laughs and jokes on that weekly review programme.
Keeping it real
William Milkovitch

Ya i get you , the horse is far more important than the Rhino..
But a high profile Rhino campaign can help racings image?
does anyone outside racing even know GC are running this campaign?
