You are so right , it has irritated me for years watching these chaps bouncing along thinking the horses will go faster !!
You have to be very fit ,to keep yourself balanced are still get the best out of a horses esp. over jumps.

You are so right , it has irritated me for years watching these chaps bouncing along thinking the horses will go faster !!
You have to be very fit ,to keep yourself balanced are still get the best out of a horses esp. over jumps.

Sherman has always bounced it works for him I think he may be a bit out of form at the moment but that's how he does it.

I also do a bit of bouncing .......... on a few mares, at my age fillies not interested

I must say that I haven't really noticed Sherman doing it...but, whoever said Jeff Lloyd was the only one... is certainly correct....(tu)
IMO...once the start bouncing...the race is up...it is the equivalent of a jockey compounding or over-racing...
flogging a dead horse....
P.S.. Jeff never touched the saddle with his backside in his heyday...he used his rhythm...pure pleasure to watch...(tu)
like Joe Byrnes....strangely enough...Jose Barnes reminds me a bit of him...used to sit on the horses neck....
and never a slack rein in the finish....but that was for the purists...

Thats why i have the utmost respect for fanie chambers he will sit deadstill in a tite finish keep he'horse balanced and 8 out 10 times win the race the greatest jock off them all lester piggot rode the same way balanced and controlled
